The Duchess of Edinburgh is undertaking an official visit to South and Central America from 1 to 19 November 2025. The Duchess is visiting Peru, Panama, Guatemala and Belize at the request of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. On November 11, the Duchess attended a meeting with Indigenous Women’s Rights Defenders in Iquitos, where she met indigenous women from the Awajún, Shipibo-Konibo, and Kukama Kukamiria peoples.
Later, the Duchess attended a dinner marking the UK’s first year of implementing the Biodiverse Landscape Fund programme, which encourages bio-business value chains and sustainable production in the Andes–Amazon region.
On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Palm Tree Management Group of the 20 de Enero community, located in the Pacaya–Samiria National Reserve in Peru. The National Reserve is a protected area located in the region of Loreto.
