Beautiful dress in a lovely colour. I think the coat is gorgeous but the belt and scarf kill it. I am sure it is bitterly cold in Beijing and the scarf may be necessary but the belt isn´t.

    1. I agree entirely. The belt ruins this look. It is perfect on the model: structured, streamlined elegant. The belt takes it to frumpy territory.

    2. I agree as well

    3. Interesting that we have different ideas. For me the belt modernises the look and the Queen has such a perfect figure that it looks perfect on her.

    4. Love the belt. It doesn’t “kill” anything, oh dramatic commenter. The cost is gorgeous both with and without.

  3. It's interesting that both ladies are wearing almost the same style of dress and both look gorgeous. Both dresses have 3/4 length sleeves and full A-line skirts only the necklines differ. The pink and red compliment each other. The CH coat is really wild and amazing and certainly one of a kind. I like how the pink of the dress is found in the floral print of the coat to form an ensemble. I don't think I have ever seen a printed coat. I like it and It deserves high marks for originality.

Paloma.

  10. Q. Letizia is wearing a beautiful dress although I'd prefer another type of pink like darker pink (old rose). I don't like the coat with the big flowers and the white shoes and white bag are not looking good with the dress and the coat. Gray accessories would have been excellent.
First lady Peng Liyuan is looking good in her burgundy dress and nude/pink coat. Her dark beige shoes look also very good with the color of her dress, she is a beautiful woman.

    1. Her shoes and bag are both pink, not white.

    2. It was not visible on the pictures that they were pink. Nevertheless the color of her accessories were not a good choice (my opinion).

  12. I find the inside loop feature on the First Lady’s coat interesting. The ability to leave a wrap coat open but not falling open is clever. I like the queens choice of dress, however the pink shoes perhaps in a different shade of pink for contrast would of been nice too.

  14. Look parfait de la première dame ; son élégant manteau est très bien porté sur la robe ceinturée Bordeaux dont la jupe est ample !

  15. I like all items individually, but I don´t think they go well together. It´s like several seasons combined in one outfit. The dress is best saved for spring (colourwise), the shoes with the slingback heel are summery and look odd with the long coat and especially the big scarf. I also think that the scarf is too pink for the pastel dress. Letizia still looks nice, and I like the fit and silhouette of what she´s wearing, but it´s quite a bit short of perfection.

    1. For me, this IS perfection. There are no rules for which shade of pink can be worn at which season. Rather, which shade suits the wearer. This is gorgeous on Letizia, each detail.

  16. This is a beautiful coat! The dress coordinates with it perfectly. I do think it is a little long, and I don't like the belt with it. It looks better without.

  17. I like the dress and the coat, but the pink scarf is too stark,a softer pink might have complimented the pink in the print. We know QL can no longer wear high heels, but a coat this length with that amount of volume needs a rather a higher heel or a shorter length.

    1. I see differently Lowri. I think both dress and coat suit her right down to the hem, as they are, and that the shoes compliment them extremely well.

  18. I like the coat but maybe with a few less flowers.

  19. Letizia’s coat is interesting. I think I like it … not sure about the belt, though. Her pink dress looks to me more like something one would wear at Easter.

    1. At Easter? In what Country? In China?

    2. To his/her/their defense, I think they mean the soft pink color is more conducive to spring (i.e. Easter time in the western world) when one usually wears soft shades of pink, yellow, mint green, etc. The correlation is not that hard to understand.

    3. Anon 18:53...that must be in your country, in mine people wear any colours at any season, only that the fabric US thicker or shofter.
