The first day of the State Visit began with Chief Justice Richard Wagner welcoming King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia at the Governor General’s official residence, Rideau Hall. Later, the King and Queen took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial, a monument honoring Canadians who have served their country. In the evening, the Canadian hosts held a state banquet at Rideau Hall in honor of the King and Queen.

  4. Queen Silvia has legs to die for. This skirt length should be laid down in the constitution ... well OK - but you see why? - She looks impeccable, in both outfits. At first, I was wondering about that little perky black hat, but in the end, Silvia is so pretty as a whole, the coat, the colour, the length!!, the shoes, the jewelry - everything. The blue velvet (?) evening gown is perfection too. Such a simple cut, following the boy contours, and what a magnificent figure she has. I am all happy to see her so enchanting.

As a proud Canadian, I am delighted to see the King and Queen visit us. Silvia’s red dress and blue gown are both beautiful on her, and appropriate for this time of year in Ottawa.

  7. Wow that blue velvet dress, my favourite colour. The motif, fit so elegant. Mrs. Carney looks great, lovely fit, style. The men look dapper. No one wears a suit quite like the king.
