The ballet The Snow Queen had its revival premiere in the Concert Hall at Tivoli. The guest of honour was Queen Margrethe, who serves as both the set designer and costume designer for the production. The Christmas ballet The Snow Queen is based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name and is being restaged in a year marking the 220th anniversary of his birth and the 150th anniversary of his death. The story follows two children, Gerda and Kay, whose friendship is tested when Kay is struck by a shard from a magical mirror and abducted by the cold and mysterious Snow Queen.

The musician Oh Land composed the score, and Yuri Possokhov created the choreography. The Snow Queen runs in Tivoli’s Concert Hall until 21 December.

  1. Sonja and Margrethe both look lovely. I took a gasp at the pants Benedikte was wearing. The top looked lovely, but those pants, certainly not up to her usual standard of classy dressing.

Paloma.

  4. I love the outfit of the lady who is welcoming the royal guests. A beautiful jacket on a dark classic skirt or trousers and beautiful accessories (less is more).

  5. I really admire Margrethe. She is making the most of her post-queen life by doing the things she loves to do. She is a model for all retirees. Her work in the arts is leaving a glorious legacy.

  6. Princess Bene looks great in the pink pants, her shoes, are a great color. Love the long strand of pearls she is wearing, elegant.

  8. Each time Queen Margrethe is responsable for the costumes and the design of a production, she is wearing the same skirts, this one and another one. Lucky she didn't wore the black ballerina's with straps she used to wear with the white stockings. It is wonderful she can make the costumes and the design for the set but it is strange she doesn't make now and then a new outfit for herself to go with it. It was said in the past that she made her own evening gowns....

  9. Margrethe who has an eye for fashion, should notice the white stockings went out by the 1990's. A dark pair would look so much better.

Benedikte; the pants are horrid. The top is lovely. Benedikte is usually spot on with her classical, beautiful clothing choices, not sure what she was thinking with these pants.

Sonya, lovely as ever, though dark colours could have used a few brighter palates to be used.
