Hmmm fit is nice, but I am not a fan of a jumper over a blouse. Her boots look fine with this outfit.

I don’t see any jumper? I see more like a very practical pinafore over the blouse? I love it when Camilla dresses in this more casual way when she invites people to her house. By dressing down and inviting them in, she makes herself approachable and very welcoming. I think she’s doing a marvellous job!

In the US, the term we use for what Camilla is wearing is a jumper. It looks cheerful and slimming. I love that she hosts these events at Clarence House.

Queen Elizabeth II was never dressed down when she welcomed people at one of the castles or palaces. According the circumstances she was more or less dressed up, but she looked always good in her classic dresses. She never wore boots indoors. I've never seen her in a jumper either. Queen Camilla has still a lot to learn, but I am afraid at her age is too late to change, although during Spring and Summer she is usually better dressed than during Autumn and Winter.

In the US, this is a jumper. A pinafore is "a sleeveless apron-like garment worn over a young girl's dress, typically having ties or buttons at the back." I don't know what the apron-like garment is called in England. Maybe someone could enlighten us?

    5. For clarification: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumper_(dress) . It is what the British would call a pinafore dress, but in AE things can be named differently, as we all should know. Also, we all have to come to terms with the fact that, of course, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II dressed differently from what we see now, but that's the past now. Other times, other styles, other personal preferences. It's like comparing oranges to pears. Each to their own. Of course Queen Camilla has a different - her own - style. I would be rather concerned should she try to copy her late mother-in-law.

It is not a question to copy her late mother-in-law, but to be dressed up or dressed down. To me Queen Camilla is looking dressed down too often.

Yes, as I was starting to scroll through the photos I was thinking “Surely for this event we won’t be seeing the boots again”…oops, there they are. 🤷🏻

Love them. I think they will be cosy and comfortable, which are good choices at her age.

I don‘t think that queen Camilla‘s idea of dressing down makes her more approachable, in fact, what basically happens is that she disappoints. Had the late queen invited me to her palace during the day, I would have expected her to dress elegantly, with her famous pearls and a suitable brooch, which is what she did. The present look is very plain, it reminds me of what modern nuns might wear, in which case the outfit would be perfectly suitable.

I don't think SJP's outfit is awful. It is important to consider who she is and her connection to fashion. What works for one person doesn't always work for another. Her dress works for her and who she is. Let's be honest, the guests are dressed better than the host.

This outfit is similar to a clerical uniform, such as a bank clerk, travel or airport consultant might wear --- especially the silky spotted blouse. Not a fan. Lyra

In a bank the staff members are not dressed in uniforms anymore and travel and airport consultants are wearing a skirt and jacket also called a 2 pieces in the same color, at least in my country.

Not a fan of Camilla's outfit, it seems a bit outdated. The blouse is nice, but the dress pulls down the silouette somehow. I love what Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing. Does anyone know if she was there as a writer...?

You are not crazy, I like it too. Some people here let themselves carried away by their very personal preferences and preoccupations (about pinafore dresses, e.g.) and suggest that they are generally valid. This type of dress even makes, by contrasting colours, the wearer look slimmer, the straight column of black in this case is elongating (and don't understand what one commenter meant ba "somehow pulling down"). The blouse seems to be a beautiful flowing silk, not really what nuns, school teachers etc wear under their pinafore - casual elegance. To tell the truth, I would not want her to wear something like the Late Queen's jolly overall floral patterned dresses. That was nice and endearing on her, and nobody else.

Are school teachers and nuns still wear this kind of dresses where you live ? My nephew's wife is a school teacher, she is dressed like any other young woman. During summer she is wearing lovely summer dresses or a summer skirt or white jeans with a beautiful T-shirt or blouse. During winter she wears beautiful trousers, warm sweaters, booties or midi-skirts with a beautiful pair of high leather boots and a warm sweater or a blouse in a winter fabric under a puffed coat.

This looks like the dress uniform of a catholic school - nothing regal about it.

Catholic schools are not wearing those uniforms anymore since a long time. All the children boys and girls can wear what they like. If it are youngsters from secondary school the only thing they must take into account is to dress descently.
