On November 16, 2025, Princess Kako attended the 47th National Youth Speech Contest, 'My Statement 2025,' in Shibuya Ward. The contest features 12 junior high school students—selected from more than 350,000 applicants nationwide—who present the thoughts and meaningful experiences they have gained in their daily lives. Since first attending this contest in 2014 as her inaugural solo official engagement, this marks Princess Kako’s 10th appearance.

ردحذفShe's the only one that can pull off these bows - she's got the sweeter face to go with it. When Catherine wears them, she's got too much of a mature/classic face to wear them.
ردحذفI'm afraid Kako misses the mark with this outfit. The pants don't fit her well and are very baggy in the crotch area. They look like they were designed for a much taller person. I also don't like the fabric of the suit or the tie blouse.

Dear Sandra, what is the mark that she has missed, who sets it, and what happens when she “misses the mark”? Could it be instead her enjoying this outfit and wanting to wear it - but you not liking it, for the reasons you outline? It’s completely fine and normal that we don’t like various fashion items, but that’s about our preferences surely, and not another’s lack?! For me, I think she looks so cute, well and thoughtfully dressed, and stylish too.

ردحذفUnfortunately, I don‘t read Japanese, perhaps the above blogger gave us some helpful information. I have the feeling that the somewhat unusual fit of the trousers is intentional. The sartorial rules in Japan for women cannot be judged according to Western standards, furthermore, they are of course far more rigid for the Imperial Family. I like this charming outfit.

I like the suit fabric and colour. If it is coveralls then that explains the fit of the pants. However if it is pants then the attempt to keep a modest fit, they do not look good.
