The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, accompanied by his wife Elke Büdenbender, is making a State Visit to Spain. On November 26, 2025, King Felipe and Queen Letizia welcomed President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the First Lady with a state ceremony held at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
Later in the morning, Queen Letizia, accompanied by the First Lady of Germany, Elke Büdenbender, attended a working meeting on women and equality in Spain at the Gallery of the Royal Collections, organized by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the evening, the King and Queen will hold a gala dinner at the Royal Palace in honour of the German President and his wife.

Belle couleur chaleureuse pour la robe de Letizia mais j'aurais préféré un ourlet plus court et bien droit plutôt que ces morceaux trop longs qui pendent de tous les côtés (et l'effet est hélas encore accentué avec la cape = trop de tissus larges partout). Et comme elle est plus petite que son géant de mari, cette masse de tissu la tasse encore plus, ça ne la met pas en valeur.
ردحذفSur la photo de groupe (n°3) c'est flagrant, elle n'est vraiment pas à son avantage et pourtant c'est une femme qui a le plus souvent une belle allure et un beau maintien (c'est la preuve que ça dépend de ses tenues). J'aime l'encolure de la cape et la superbe pochette. Paloma.

She looks gorgeous in the deep cherry color.
حذفIMO the both ladies are dressed for different occassions, with the Queen's dress being much more formal than the First Lady. Something failed in coordination.

ردحذفI admire Letizia but I think this outfit is not right for the occasion. She looks as if she goes to the opera or something like that. The skirt part of the dress is too dramatic.
ردحذفWell the queen of a country ALWAYS has the correct outfit, she is the queen. She’ll know the occasion while the other is briefed as to expectations. While midi dresses are in fashion this time round they have been used for casual right through to formal occasions. I think the red may be in keeping with the colours of the flag as she welcomes an international visitor. It looks very cosy as opposed to formal to me. I covet it!!
حذفYou are being generous with the opera. In the first photo with the rear view, she looked like a wee old lady. Certainly the dress on it's own is much better--a lovely colour and the top is well fitting, There's too much material in the skirt, imo, both length and width

ردحذفLetizia's dress is beautiful in all respects especially the bold red colour. I only wish it was a straight hemline instead of asymmentrical.
ردحذفI cannot say much about this dress, it is very unusual and therefore open to controversy, but what I can say is that the queen is outshining Mrs. Büdenbender,

Bueno, a veces en las cenas de gala algunas reinas llevan joyas y tiara cuando el invitado es una republica y por tanto no la van a llevar. En realidad, Letizia no lleva tiara cuando los invitados no son reales, pero ella es una reina recibiendo, siempre se pone algo especial.
حذفHappens all over the world every day that people appear unevenly dressed despite the same briefing. Letizia looks fantastic as does the First Lady, who chose neutrals instead of a bold colour.

There is no shine or sparkle at all, it is only the hemline that makes all the drama. The dress itself is quite simple. Together with the cape, she looked everything but outshining anybody ... my first impression was quite to the contrary :-))

Queen Letizia's dress has a beautiful red color. Red is a color she wears regularly. The long uneven hemline however is not a good choice for day wear. The cape does not look good with the dress.
ردحذفElke Büdenbender dress and coat are a bit too short. It would be much better if the hemline ended just under the knee. Otherwise she is looking good and youthful on the last photo.
Mrs. B. has terrific legs and likes to show them, similar to Mme Macron. So she simply does not follow fashion that dictates longer skirts, hers end just above the knee because she chooses so and that's all. Good for her. - @Dorothe: nein, es ist überhaupt nicht schrecklich und sie tut sich gar nicht schwer, sie ist eine äußerst selbstbewusste Frau.

ردحذفMrs Budenbender looks great, I love her ensemble, suits her beautifully. The red color suits the Queen beautifully, gorgeous rich color. The hemline I dislike, if it wasn't for that, I would like this dress.

حذفThe dress is too overwhelming for the Queen's small frame. A classic red sheath dress would have looked much better, imo. Also I think some short block heels would occasionally look better than the kitten heels.

ردحذفWhile I very much like the colour and the cut of the 2nd Skin dress, I think the length might be a bit overpowering on Queen Letizia. Our very own (I am German) Mrs. Büdenbender does look good, no doubt, although I would have wished for a little more colour here.
ردحذفA very dramatic dress for Letizia, but great color. Mrs Steinmeier/ Buedenbender looks nice maybe a bit of color shoes and bag maybe?
