Following his accession to the throne, Grand Duke Guillaume, accompanied by Grand Duchess Stéphanie, has begun a series of courtesy visits to the neighbouring countries of the Grand Duchy, as well as to its Benelux partners. After their visit to Belgium, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess are undertaking an official visit to Germany.
On October 27, 2025, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess were officially welcomed at Bellevue Palace in Berlin by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and his wife, Elke Büdenbender. These visits aim to strengthen the historical, political, and cultural ties that unite Luxembourg with its immediate neighbours, in a spirit of mutual respect and closer cooperation.

Belle combinaison du blanc cassé avec le Bordeaux ; j’adore le style de son chapeau mais pas la longueur de son manteau !
ReplyDeleteWhat a hideous hat. And no, please no hate, I just love her!! Ellen
ReplyDeleteNo hate, but you could written "I don't like this hat" instead of the assertion with a proposed general validity that it *is* hideous.
DeleteI think the hat colors are gorgeous and beautiful on the Grand Duchess. I especially like that the hat is a slightly lighter shade of the same color as the other accessories, and it’s the band that is the actual match for the scarf, bag and shoes. What is giving me pause is the very floppy brim - I do wish it were stiffer and more tailored, if that’s a word I can apply to hats. That’s just a quibble for me, really, and I think she looks amazing.
DeleteThere’s no hate here (this is only fashion commentary so there’s no room or need for it), but calling something hideous is overly strong for fashion. “Not to my taste”, “a hat I don’t like”, “wrong for her outfit” etc all come across better! I actually think the colour of the felt is stunning, but would have preferred the brim straight. I don’t think it’s in anyway hideous and am so glad she’s wearing hats!
DeleteStephanie, wow! Loving the winter white coat and wine colored accessories. The hat and coat look great on her.

Indeed, love ALL her outfits, she's soooo much lovely !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteStephanie is definitely pulling out all the stops in her wardrobe refurbishment these days. The colour combination of deep red with white looks beautiful on her (especially those shoes), and I must say that I like her hat. It's sort of 'casual formal', which is perfect for a non-full-blown official visit.

This look had a lot of potential. The style of the dress is flattering. The look starts losing shape with the ‘70’s style floppy hat. A cap hat would have been lovely. The fur collar trim is too short, you can see the V of the neckline. The shoes and clutch are nice
ReplyDeleteA stylist would have been capable of correcting these hiccups. Which makes me believe there is no stylist helping the new Grand Duchess. It might be something she could consider now that she has stepped into the main role.
Lowri.
I see your point, but it is not really a (defectively applied) collar trim on the dress, it is a separate addition, probably a fake fur shawl, so it is allowed to not perfectly align with the neckline. The hat is simply a pretty floppy hat that we can see in probably each decade and age. I welcome this amount of floppiness with an otherwise very simple straight-lined outfit.
DeleteI agree with your “ potential”. Not alltogether succesfull try and far above her age
DeleteI don't think that it is a fur collar trim, but some kind of fur scarf knotted at the neck. That's why you can see the neckline. A fur collar trim would have been attached to the collar, as trims are.

@14:22 - I’d put money down on Stephanie having a stylist at the moment. She has quite radically stepped up her game for the new role. And I think the stylist and Stephanie are doing a fantastic job. To perfection.
DeleteI think the dress suits her perfectly, bearing in mind that the reasons for the choice were to fit best St's morphology. She is not wearing any coat to keep a slim appearance afap. Stephanie looks quite good. Good color combination. Stephanie is fluent in German, in addition to her friendly smile.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the coat dress has been designed to suit her figure, and it works very well.

Going around Europe to introduce themselves, nice.
ReplyDeleteGrand Duchess looks beautiful, great to wear white and neutralize that Burgundy (so many Royals have been wearing this color lately).
The scarf would have been better if it was longer and lighter material.
A rather surprising all-in-red look on Mrs. Büdenbender. Grandduchess Stéphanie in a lovely colour-combination. Still, I think (much like her blue number in Belgium) that the coat-dress is a bit too wide on her. The fur scarf is a bit on the short side, it would look better with a little more length. Contrary to many others, I quite like her floppy hat.
ReplyDeleteI like it all colour, fit, hat, however despite the great colour of the faux fur neck piece a scarf would of been nicer.
ReplyDeleteNO I'm sorry Stephanie is beautiful but this dress/coat does not fit her. It looks much too big and as a result, makes her look bigger then she is. The colors are pretty, the dress needs tailored, badly. And the hat - I'm with Anon 13:55, hideous is a good word. Stephanie could certainly wear more flattering pieces that would be more suitable for her body type and age then these motronly, Camilla approved school marm looks. She is 41 and does not need to be dressing old, just because of her job. Kate and Maxima and Mary all dress age appropiate and not matronly. It can be done no matter what your body type.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comment, except for the hat which I don't find hideous. The scarf is what I dislike, it's too big, and maybe the hat would look better without it.
DeleteI think she nailed it!! She is the shape she is, and I don’t think the coat is too big, but rather fitting her very well. Although she’s even much more polished now as Grand Duchess, her style seems to be what she has enjoyed for quite some years. So I wouldn’t say it’s matronly ( I think that’s a judgement from what you enjoy in fashion, which is fair enough) but rather formal wear, fitting her shape, that she enjoys. I absolutely love all the accessories and think she got it all exactly right. “ Hideous” Is way overkill as a choice of word.
DeleteAgain no coat ? What will she do next month and in the month of December ?
ReplyDeleteLove her shoes. A new pair of high stiletto's. Before we almost never saw her with this shoe type. Since she is GD she is wearing them. More elegant but when your dress is too long the elegant effect of stiletto's is dissappearing. I do like the colour of the accessories but not the shape of the hat.
She wore stilettos for years after becoming HGD and always looked great in them. I think she started wearing lower heels more when she got pregnant with Prince Charles. I am thrilled to see her back in the high heels. She has such pretty legs and they look great on her.
DeleteElke Büdenbender's red outfit is top. The red colour suits her. She is wearing better and better clothes lately. Each time I see photos of her during a state or other official visit, she looks great.
ReplyDeleteGrand Duchess Stephanie looks very elegant. Of course she has a stylist, no woman in her position is capable of managing her wardrobe without professional assistance. Her coat is probably even custom-made. Frau Büdenbender‘s outfit is too casual and inappropriate.

If this outfit is chosen by a stylist, it must be a very bad one. She is not wearing a coat but a woolen dress. At least Elke Büdenbender is not looking 10 years older than her real age.
DeleteI think the opposite. The President's wife's outfit is chic, modern and youthful. Stephanie's outfit is matronly - at first I thought it was Maria Theresa - her mother-in-law. I like the color combination - white and burgundy, but the cut and length of the dress somehow do not suit her figure (in my opinion).
DeleteStephanie (my name too)
I like the red and white combination on Stephanie very much, but the floppy hat does not look attractive with the outfit to me. A red hat in a more structured style would have looked nicer, in my opinion.
