The concert was performed by the Oviedo Filarmonía Orchestra (OFIL) and the Princess of Asturias Foundation Choir, conducted by Maestro Lucas Macías. The program included performances of the National Anthem and the Anthem of Asturias, marking the return of both ensembles to the Awards stage after a decade-long absence.

  1. I saw a closeup of Queen Letizia's top, its gorgeous. She has a lovely back collar, really defines the blouse. The sleeve cuffs are interesting, black tassel features adding interest to the blouse. The Navy color of the blouse I find attractive and she paired this with black pants, clever choice, drawing out the collar and tassel color.
Sofia looks wonderful, this black ensemble is a bit more modern and edgy for her, I like it. She has the wonderful height to wear this well. A beautiful young lady. Leonor looks well groomed and attired, I don't mind this outfit.
King Felipe looks superb, well attired and groomed.

  3. You can tell from her posture The Princess recently graduated from military school. She's probably more comfortable in a pantsuit than a dress. It's OK, but a little disappointing for an evening named in honour of the royal title she currently holds. But while the colour on her is wonderful and I really like the silver threading in the jacket - the silver adds a touch of glamour for the evening - I do wish she was wearing a different style of trouser or even a long skirt. Overall, it is a little too much on the conservative side for the occasion, and sadly she looks mismatched from her sister, who is the glamorous one tonight and is somewhat stealing the show in the fashion department.

The Infanta is tasteful despite the bare shoulders and back. Overall she really looks glamorous - finally - she is much less little-girly here than usual and I like it a lot. The hair could have used a professional styling. But Sofia is a statue-esque young woman with simply gorgeous skin and a wonderful profile. She will grow into becoming a great beauty, and I suspect could show us some amazing formal looks when the time comes. I know that the current Queen is rather casual with formal dressing within Spain, but I hope her daughters are permitted to push the envelope at public events. I hope to see both daughters attend state and formal events. I cannot wait for the gowns and tiaras!

I have little to say about the Queen because I don't generally don't like her casual evening style, and here I am bothered by her mismatched blacks and generally too much of an opaque shade. Something about how she is put together here feels like it's slightly cheap, and it might be because the fabric does not photograph well. In the daytime, Letizia usually nails it. She could try harder to achieve a more demure evening casual look. I do wish her the best of luck going forward because she is obviously extremely conscious of her physical appearance and maintaining youth and a frail-thin look. Letizia has had such a lot of cosmetic work done, however that is not always sustainable. So far, she has had excellent work done and thus has aged much more slowly than she was heading for (rapid weight loss after her pregnancies had emaciated her face and she had instantly aged 10+ years after the 2nd pregnancy). I would love to see Letizia attempt some more flamboyant looks, and all I mean about that is more print and pops of intense colour. She will never be a Maxima (not many can pull off the statement looks that the Queen Consort of the Netherlands can) however Letizia should step it up because she is starting to disappear standing next to her stunning, healthy-looking daughters.

The dowager Queen is sadly absent tonight. I always think she dresses impeccably and is so old-school glamorous.

I have quibbles with the handsome King tonight ... none at all! 😍

    4. I agree. I don't like they take so much place on this blog. It is also somebody who thinks she/he knows everything about this royal family. In any family also in a royal family there are so much reasons why they act like this or like that and about what the public doesn't know the reason. For an outsider it is easy to give comments. For the king, queen and the princesses it is not always so easy to do what they would like to do. They have to take into account so many rules and must try to please to anyone. On top of that the rules are not the same in every country. I hate when commenters start giving advices which might be the rule in their country, but which are not welcomed in another country. Think about that.

    5. @anons 10:38 and 13:13, I never read these very, very long comments. I don't have time for that. Luckily we don't have to listen to speeches here... 😆

    6. anon 7:28 You pepper a lot of insults in your editorial. Inaccuracies as well. Do not assume you know better than a royal family how to dress for any occasion. They set the tone, not you or anyone else. Notice the way everyone else is dressed. Why would Leonor wear a long skirt? This is not a formal event. "The Infanta is tasteful despite the bare shoulders and back." Make up your mind--is she dressed tastefully or are you personally offended. And do explain what is wrong with bare shoulders and back. I can't wait to hear. Leonor is "a little on the conservative side" and Sofia is not conservative enough. Really? Should they wear matching dresses like they did when they were little girls? The fact that you think Letizia has a "casual evening style" is another contradiction. "Evening wear" is formal. An event DURING the evening is not always formal. Big difference. Letizia is one of the better dressed queens. She has some gorgeous gowns--for formal events, which this is not. She is not wearing mismatched blacks, she is wearing navy and black. You have the nerve to say she looks "slightly cheap" and "She could try harder to achieve a more demure evening casual look." Obviously, we are not looking at the same woman. Then you launch into a diatribe about her physical appearance. To what point? She is anything but "frail-thin." She exercises and eats well to maintain her health. Please don't be one of those people who think anyone who weighs less than you do is too thin. Concentrate on your own body and stop critiquing others. You also have a problem with "rapid weight loss after her pregnancies" that you claim has "emaciated her face" and "instantly aged 10+ years". It may come as a shock to you as you don't appear to get out much, but not all women gain a tremendous amount of weight during pregnancy. Some women actually recover their pre-pregnancy bodies in a short period of time. It is entirely possible. To find fault with that is absurd. "She will never be a Maxima", not should she! Why compare them? I take issue with most of what you have said. I won't get into the rest of what I think, except to thank anon 12:28 for pointing out that you have apparently assassinated former King Juan Carlos. Unreal!

Thank you to anon 13:13 as well. You said it perfectly--we should never assume we know everything about them and we must always take into account that each royal family is different.

    7. Last time I checked, former King Juan Carlos was still alive. Please don't make Queen Sofia a widow before she even is one.

  5. I like Lenor jacket and trouser. I think she wears it well and with confidence. Sofia jumpsuit suits her too. She has inherited her father’s height so she’ll never need worry about a trouser not looking good on her.
It was lovely to see the family out together. They seem very close.
    Lowri.

Paloma.

  7. All of the outfits at this event are quite dull and boring. No one stands out. I usually look forward to these awards because the ladies bring out some show stoppers. They all look like they are going to the office rather than an exciting evening occasion. I do like the top of Letizia's outfit because the sleeves are amazing but other than that they are all wearing pants and solid dark colours with very few interesting features.

I made that comment too (about the dark colours) 2 or 3 years ago. By now I know it is the custom in Spain to wear black on events like this concert for the The Princess of Asturias Awards. Everything concerning these awards seems to be very important in Spain & the etiquette requires to wear as much black as possible.

    4. @"dull and boring": Leonor's jacket is a masterpiece of silent and simple elegance without being a pushy "look at me" piece. https://www.armani.com/en-gb/emporio-armani/lurex-tweed-zip-up-jacket-with-micro-sequins-cod-EW002143-AF14734-UB092/

    5. I totally agree. Smart but dull was my immediate reaction. Yes, there are plus points like the sleeves on Queen Letizia’s dress or Princess Leonor’s jacket but disappointing for an evening event.

If you look at Letizia,s outfit for the same event in 2017, you will see her wearing a stunning bright blue dress. You may be mistaken about black. I think the family is moving in a more conservative trend as far as fashion is concerned. That is what I have noticed. Perhaps they want to look more serious and not very stylish.

    7. Sandra: that dress was also very dark. Also, the King has said that now Leonor is going to lead these prices which bear her name, so Letizia needs to be less in the spotlight when Leonor is near. (Sorry my English..I am 56 years old student)☺️

  9. @Sandra, "no one stands out": maybe because dark colours are difficult to photograph? I think the Queen's blouse is outstanding, we don't quite see it well. But maybe too because this is a concert to honour the awardees.

  10. Gee I thought they all looked very nicely dressed. The sleeves on the queens top add interest without distracting, Sofia has a lovely bracelet, and the shiny thread in Leonor’s perfectly fitting jacket elevates the look. And well the King perfectly tailored suit, nice colour.

  11. There’s a comment up top which is perfect: “ Do not assume you know better than a royal family how to dress for any occasion. They set the tone, not you or anyone else.”!!! So many times I read in the comments that the commenter believed a Queen is wrongly dressed for an occasion …. But of course, the Queen sets the tone, no one else!
