On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Dutch Queen Máxima visited a military training area of the Education and Training Centre of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee in Harderwijk. The visit focused on recruitment and selection.
Queen Máxima was briefed on the duties and training programmes of the Marechaussee and subsequently visited two field camps — one of the Marechaussee Security Training Course and one of the Defence Year Programme of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.
A Defence Year is a voluntary programme that allows young people to explore life and work in the Dutch armed forces for one year. The programme provides opportunities to learn military skills, includes both physical and mental challenges, and helps participants develop competencies such as teamwork, leadership, and self-discipline.

Fair point, Rossella. Her visit nevertheless is likely to bring positive help towards recruitment, which may be the idea.

ReplyDeleteYou must have searched for it ... it is not really visible and sure not identifiable as a Rolex, only if one knows that she has one. - But even if she wears it, is it really a problem? Should royals try to hide the fact that they have much more wealth than average people?

DeleteYou did not understood what Anon. 13:55 was trying to say.
"Even voor de Bühne" can be translated as "Just for the show". The brand of the watch doesn't matter, she could have said she still wore her Cartier instead of Rolex. I noticed the red nails (last picture) which anon. didn't mention. It has nothing to do with having more wealth or not, but everything with the fact that as a queen, Maxima never will serve in the army of The Netherlands. Besides she never had any military training at all. I also understand Rosella's reaction.
Now that in many European countries one is busy to start recruitement again due to the international situation, the little show which Maxima is trying to perform there will maybe not be appreciated by a part of the Dutch people. If she had a son in the Army like Queen Mathilde or a daughter in the air-force like Queen Letizia she would perhaps have thought not to do this.
Anonyme 20 : 03, je suis 100% d'accord avec vous. Paloma.
Delete20:03: I fully agree too. For me, it is impossible not to shudder when I see stuff like this. It is always easy to think of the military in abstract terms, but if you think of the troops as someone´s sons, it´s a different story. A German politician stated the other day, that in the case of a war (which is the direction they´re heading), 1000 soldiers per day (!) will have to be replaced. Replaced... like broken light bulbs. 1000. Daily.... If stuff like that doesn´t shock people, I really wonder about their sanity. Yet here is Maxima, smiling in combat gear, knowing full well that it isn´t her children that will be targeted with campaigns like this.
DeleteI urge all people in Europe to respond to this. At the very least emotionally - it should send shivers up your spine - but do respond politically as well. Discuss this, oppose this, protest this. It is not an acceptable prospect, and if the ruling elites have collectively lost their minds, it is all the more important that common people show the courage to stop this madness.
@ Anon. 06:51
DeleteMaybe you could give us common people some suggestions what to do to stop this madness. It is not us who can decide about that. We cannot tell the royals what to do, if they cannot see it themselves. We cannot, despite several strikes, because everything is becoming much more expensive tell the politicians what to do. We cannot prevent that old retired people risk to loose a part of their allocation. We cannot stop the fact that younger people who are still working risk to loose a part of their monthly salary. In a lot of countries strikes are being organized. On the other hand we (especially the less big or powerful countries) don't have enough money to continue to pay for the political and climate fugitives who are arriving every day, we don't have enough money to buy all the weapons we need to defend ourselves in case of attacks or war situations. So where do the politicians get the money ? From the working class, the tax payers, the retired elderly, ..... If today you wish to eat normally, without buying gastronomy or expensive wines, you have to pay much more than six months ago and it is not finished yet. Because of the high taxes on import and export the prices will rise higher and higher. In my town several shops, stores, little super markets,....are forced to close their doors because economically they are not able to continue.
Under these circumstances it is not easy to show courage. When there is no money anymore, it will be very hard to survive for many commoners.
I just love how Maxima immerses herself in all these various activities, many of them strenuous, and always with a smile and good humour. She even makes camouflage look chic, lol.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
Nothing wrong with dressing up in the uniform so you have an actual idea of how comfortable or uncomfortable it is for the military personnel. She is such a good sport and engaging, even putting camouflage paint on her face.
ReplyDeleteCheap comment!
DeleteHer won daughter is now following army training. So dont talk of you dont have te faces.
Delete@ Anonymous 12:40
DeleteDifficult to understand what you are writing exactly. But I think you mean that CP Amalia is following army training now. Well i'd prefer to see pictures of her instead of her mother's. Why is military training of CP Amalia is kept so secretly.
Love this woman….wish we had a photo of the camo makeup from the front!
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, ook nog lange gelakte nagels.

ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful, seeing the Queen out in the field and participating and working side by side, love it! She looks sensational in fatigues.
