On October 15, 2025, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands attended the official opening of the exhibition ‘Heroes – Conquering Childhood Cancer’ at De Hallen in Amsterdam. Children with cancer drew their heroes with superpowers, which were transformed into colorful movie posters full of hope and strength. The exhibition was organized by the Princess Máxima Center on the occasion of the international SIOP Congress (International Society of Paediatric Oncology), which is being held in the Netherlands this year.

  1. Alas, this dress lacks colour. Red scarf and ditto shoes maybe?

  5. That’s a lovely Oscar de La Renta look. Tweed is so lovely for this time of year and the trim detailing not only matches the garment but Maxima. Small quibble: no belt or black to match the boots would be my preference. Look at pic 1, all in motion, all enjoying - that’s what I think Maxima does so well.

    1. I agree. This is another case of a random belt being added that is not needed and doesn't enhance the overall look.

  6. That´s a resounding NO from me. The blanket-like material, the frills, the length, the gold buttons, the unflattering cut - nothing works. The pattern was already busy and everything else just adds to the mess. Belt and shoes are all wrong too. This thing cannot be turned into anything attractive. I do like her hair today though.

  7. Oh dear goodness! Her hair is AMAZING. Is this the best it has ever looked? I hope she takes note and continues to do whatever it is she did for this engagement.

I have never been a fan of this dress. The v-neck cut is just far too low in my opinion.

  8. Totally agree with Vanessa, except for the hair which has been brushed but certainly needs attention. The earrings, even if they are gold or just costume jewellery, they are too large and look cheap.

  9. Gorgeous dress! Nothing like a beautiful fitting coat dress and the tweed is perfection! Love the boots and anon 15:08 is right about the hair - AMAZING! So Maxima.

  11. Why so negative about this dress. She wears it every autumn or winter. It is inspired on the Chanel look. I've seen worse lately on other queens, duchesses, princesses, etc... I think Queen Maxima likes to wear this tweed dress now it is getting a bit colder.

  12. Very nice appearance! This dress is perfect for the season. Tweed makes me happy when it is cool outside. I would lose the belt, otherwise lovely.

Paloma.

  14. Sorry but this checked dress doesn't do her any good. Busy and not the right colour. Maxima needs colour.

  15. In the past I have not liked this dress--I have called it a stadium blanket. However, and do not know why, I like it this time. I think Queen Maxima looks wonderful in it on this outing. I love the belt she added to give the dress definition at her waist. Overall, Maxima looks polished and well turned out.

  16. This would have been so much better without the tassel-y bits. The Queen's hair looks gorgeous - the best we have seen it in a while.

The Queen's hair looks beautiful in this soft style. I'm on the fence about the dress. Maybe heels instead of boots. As a big plus: I think it's great when royals engage in re-wears like the rest of us .
