On October 23, 2025, Princess Sofia and Princess Christina inaugurated the Hat Couture exhibition at the Royal Armoury (Livrustkammaren) in the Royal Palace. Hat Couture is an exhibition celebrating an imaginative accessory—the hat—worn by Swedish royals from the mid-20th century, the golden age of hats, to the 2000s.

The exhibition showcases royal hats from the Royal Armoury’s collections for the first time in a dedicated display. The headpieces once belonged to Queen Louise, as well as Princesses Sibylla and Margaretha. The exhibition also features hats and hair ornaments that have been worn by, and are still owned by, Princesses Sofia and Christina.

The Royal Armoury is one of Sweden’s oldest museums. It was originally a storage place for the Swedish royal family’s costumes, arms, and armour. In 1885, it became a museum open to the public. The museum has been located in the Royal Palace since 1978.

  1. How lovely to see these two princesses who we rarely get to see enough of, carrying out an engagement with just each other. P. Cristina's hat looks good, and P.Sofia's Mouret dress is smashing. A lovely berry colour, and a simple, elegant style and cut that makes it flow very well. Mouret knows how to do great style.

  2. I think I understand why princess Christina chose black for her dress. However, I do not understand why she chose a black hat instead of a brighter colour, which would have been more flattering in every respect. 🌞 Virginia
