On September 30, 2025, Belgium's Prince Gabriel took the oath as an officer at the Royal Military Academy (KMS). Together with his fellow students, Prince Gabriel swore “loyalty to the King, obedience to the Constitution, and to the laws of the Belgian people.” The ceremony took place in the presence of King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, and Princess Eléonore.
Each year, after obtaining their bachelor’s degree, the officer cadets of the Royal Military Academy are appointed as Second Lieutenants or Naval Ensigns (second class). For this swearing-in, a military ceremony is held in the presence of their families. For the occasion, Queen Mathilde wore a blue ‘Darcy’ wool jersey dress by Natan, while Princess Eléonore wore a fringe-trimmed ‘Ottoman’ fabric jacket by Emporio Armani.
-Astrid.
Both ladies are in very nice outfits. I am starting to be able to identify Natan garments and how they use the fabric. I can see that they cut the front in one piece with the seam down the sleeve which causes the fabric to flow under the arms.
ReplyDeleteWell observed. This observation explains why I mostly find Natan tops and the tops of their dresses to be ill fitting; it’s the puckering of the fabric due to keeping the single piece of fabric. To me it appears to be a cheaper way to make clothes; but I guess it’s their signature look.
DeleteThis felted wool dress of Mathilde could win a competition "Make a dress with the least possible design effort". There is a collar, and there is a belt. There are sleeves giving the impression that the designer left them in a limbo between wide and tight, so they are just formless. No, this is not a nice dress, in a way lovelessly made, if this makes sense for you. - Eleonore's Armani jacket is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis dress comes from the ready to wear collection by Natan. The blue color looks lovely on Queen Mathilde. The dress is not better or worser than any other coat dress.
DeleteI love the jacket by Emporio Armani and worn by Princess Eléonore.
DeleteYes, loveless! With rare exceptions, this is my opinion on Natan clothes.
DeleteQueen Mathilde also has this dress in grey like on the model. She wore it under a black or darker grey cape coat for a rememberence ceremony of the holocaust victims last year in Auswitch, I think. I remember she sat next to King Charles and they seemed to had an interesting conversation. The blue color looks better for Queen Mathilde. The dress is from the ready to wear collection by Natan. The head band is in fact a little hat of which the top is left open.
ReplyDeleteLove the Armani jacket
ReplyDeleteQM looked like an older sister of CP Elisabeth when visiting her in Harvard. This dress makes her look much older than she is. Great color but that’s about it, not a good design nor flattering fabric.

ReplyDeleteBoth royal ladies look well groomed and dressed. Love the Armani jacket its gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day for the RF. I like the Armani jacket of Eleonore. Mathildes dress a lovely color and good look. Gabriel towers over the family, is he the tallest from all the children?
