At the invitation of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, is paying a State Visit to Belgium. He is accompanied by his daughter, Laura Mattarella. On Monday, October 20, the King and Queen welcomed the Italian President in Brussels. Following the ceremonial reception at the Place des Palais, they hosted a working lunch at the Royal Palace.
Élégantes toutes les deux - La tenue de la fille du Président est originale ; aussi, j’aimerais en savoir plus ?!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I like the unique style of the cape. It gets very tiresome seeing the same designs over and over. I would probably wear this cape, or similar design. I cannot competently comment on the hat, but it doesn't look like it is belongs with this outfit.
DeleteMathilde's dress and coat (I'm assuming it's a 2-piece) look...good. The fabric of the coat seems rather stiff and a little tight around the waist area, but the overall look is softened by the peek of pleats of the supposed dress underneath. From behind, the skirt of the coat falls nicely and I love the rich blue colour with the tinges of green in the fabric. Special mention to the details on the cuffs, collar and the unusual but nice fasteners in the middle, and I like her tucked-under hair and the headband.
ReplyDeleteAs for Ms. Mattarella, I can find little to like of her outfit. It's one of those situations where the outfit is actually wearing her, instead of the other way round. She looks completely engulfed by a lot of blue fabric and the proportions seem off to me. The skirt should have been a little longer to balance that huge folded bit in the front. From behind it looks decent enough but from the front, not so much. The dowdy hat further makes her look like she was going to a funeral. I recall that she has worn some elegant pieces in the past, so let's see what she has for the rest of this state visit.
Looking forward to the dinner tonight.

DeleteAbout Queen Mathilde, I clicked on every photo and I really cannot see a sign of a coat that is a little tight around the waist not in the front and not in the back. As the coat is made not to be worn single or double breasted but just the 2 front parts to be worn next to one another, it is almost impossible to make it too tight around the waist. The photo which shows Queen Mathilde in the back is a perfect proof that the waist area is not too tight. I do not see green in the fabric either but maybe my screen doesn't show that color. It has been described on Belgian websites as royal blue. The fabric of the coat (jacquard silk) must be a bit stiff otherwise you cannot make the effect of a coat that looks like those made by Dior.
Million percent yes to Mathilde’s entirely perfect outfit, and to her fantastic hairstyle. Laura from the back is very cute and I love the black accessories with that shade of blue, but from the front, all my brain can see is much too much much much excess material. I’ll be interested to read if others like the styling.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde's outfit is just so attractive in style, color, shape. She looks so sweet smiling at the King. I love the bright blue, subtle print, the matching headband, the placement of the buttons at her waistline and shoes.
ReplyDeleteMiss Mattarella's cape is an unusual shape and, sad to say, really doesn't flatter her. It looks very "boxy" and artificial, working hard to stay in a square. The color is lovely, though. Her hat looks to be trying hard to look feminine with its pouf of netting in the back, but it just is too different to be a part of the ensemble.
Paloma.
What a gorgeous outfit for Mathilde, head-to-toe! the design is perfect for her figure, and the headband and hairstyle look fresh and modern. The patterned fabric looks so luxurious too.
ReplyDeleteMs Matarella's kite-like cape is a very bold choice. Charlene might be able to make it work because she is tall (taller than Mathilde), but unfortunately I think it's too exaggerated for Ms Mattarella's classic and moderate proportions.
The back view is nice however, and if the centre point of the cape in the front were made shorter (say, just to the waist) I think it could be a lovely look for her. Lyra
DeleteQueen Mathilde is dressed today entirely in Armani Privé. Her jacquard coat and simple dress, clutch, shoes, head band everything comes from the house of Armani Privé. She is wearing the new earrings CP Elisabeth wore at the festivities in Luxembourg for GD Guillaume and GD Stéphanie. Apparently a pair of earrings that as well Queen Mathilde as her daughter CP Elisabeth are wearing. Queen Mathilde did something different with her hair. From a distance one could think she cut her hair short, but it is turned inside in her neck. I like it this way, an excellent solution for a windy day and there will be more windy days this week. Queen Mathilde is looking very regal today and I think she is also looking very elegant. The color of her outfit is entirely in royal blue.
ReplyDeleteLaura Matarella's modern cape is a rewear . Not that she cannot wear it, but the short cape is looking good in the back, but I do not like it in the front. A simple cape would have been perfect. The blue color is looking good on her.
Now that we know which colors are fashionable this Autumn-Winter there are also differents colors of blue on the latest pictures I've seen during the week-end. Not everybody can wear dark aubergine, purple, burgundy, bottle green, army green or khaki.
I found this comment very interesting to read, thank you.
DeleteQueen Mathilda looks lovely! The subtle patern on the coat is gorgeous and the matching headband looks very regal. She is always so well put together. The Italian First Lady - sorry, no. Awful everything. Sorry but it looks like she had to run to catch up and threw on that thing to cover her dress? I'm sorry but just no.
ReplyDeleteLove the whole outfit the queen is wearing. I think she changed her hair a bit, looking very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe contrast of the structured coat over a lighter dress, neither are battling for attention, they compliment each other perfectly. The shade of blue in the coat, carrying through to QM shoes and accessories really finishes the look. The piece de resistance is the gorgeous diamond and sapphire drop earrings.
ReplyDeleteQM has really wetted our appetite for tonight’s state dinner.
Lowri.
Wow, queen Mathilde ten years younger! Beautifull colour !
ReplyDeleteThe presidents daughter: love her choice of exceptional designs that are elegant, special and never over the top.
I can´t stop looking at and admiring Queen Mathilde´s gorgeous coat. The tailoring is excellent with all the beautiful piping along the edges and around the cuffs. What great workmanship! Love everything about this, coat, dress, headband, colour, material. Everything!
