  2. I'm pleasant surprised we got to see a tiara at tonight's dinner, when visiting republic countries it is not always certain. Queen Mary looks beautiful here. Her tiara with small red stones matches perfectly with the dress. I believe we have seen this gown at a previous New Years Reception.

  3. Mary prefers soft lines, very little angularity, almost always round or rounded contours. Don't know if I could make clear what I mean. Her fabulous black top earlier today and now this dress again. It is very flattering and feminine. Anyway, here she is again, tasteful and impeccable, a joy for the eyes.

  5. This is a beautiful red gown, the style suits her beautifully. I like the style, color and fit. Her jewelry is an interesting choice. Her ruby tiara and necklace would have looked superb with this gown. Regardless she looks both regal, elegant and beautiful. She has the most perfect posture.

  6. Mary looks absolutely lovely. Her dress is beautiful, and the fitted bodice with the scalloped neckline and cap sleeves balances the full skirt nicely.

  9. Sa robe est d’une belle couleur. Il est vrai qu’elle est simple.

Toutefois, elle est à la fois élégante, féminine et moderne.

  14. Completely proper queen/princessy look and this is why I come here! Looking forward to learning more about the jewellery choices. I love how the black jacket at the top tapers down the back of the red dress. And then of course when it’s removed the gown is magnificent.

    2. About Mary's jewellery choices, I just read online, that the tiara she chose is unusual because it isn't one from the hereditary Danish collection, but one that Mary bought privately at an auction around 2012. It can be worn as a tiara or as a necklace. She last wore it just a couple of months before she became Queen consort. The article described what stones are present in it but I cannot remember which ones exactly, other than diamonds. I think it's beautiful, delicate and properly understated in place of a loud tiara.

  15. great dress, such a bad makeup. Who thought that pink lipstick will go well with the red dress.....

    1. Agree about the lipstick, the rest of the makeup looked rather thick, not a good look for anyone. Much to the dismay of others, I did not like the cut or color of this dress. The short sleeves left 'back-fat/roll' and the exaggerated V-neckline was just too much.

    1. No, Mary does not always look amazing. She uses too much makeup at times, and it ages her.

  20. Stunning Mary 👌 and I love that she queens properly by wearing a tiara at state dinners in republics too. One has too few occasions to air one’s precious jewels otherwise, methinks!

  22. This dress is one of my favourite of QM’s. She wore it last with her hair up and the Ruby parure. I thought she looked splendid that night. I’m not as taken with this look. We seem to see a few of our royal ladies wearing their hair down wearing a tiara. We’ve seen Princess Catherine do it on a few occasions. Also Princess Marie, and now QM. I hope they get back to wearing their hair up when wearing a tiara, otherwise it looks like an Alice band.
    Lowri.
