The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, is making a three-day State Visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of the King. On September 17, 2025, the Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump as they arrived in Windsor. For the ceremony, the Princess of Wales wore a burgundy dress by Emilia Wickstead.
As part of his State Visit to the UK, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were welcomed by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle. Around 120 horses and 1,300 members of the British military took part in the ceremonial welcome. President Trump and the First Lady then proceeded to St George’s Chapel to lay a wreath at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II.
the ladies look lovely, however I wonder about Melania’s choice to wear a jacket with a mandarin collar and a coolee hat. Hat is similar to what she wore for the inauguration, good thing the Queen is short and looking up under the brim. The suit fits her well. Catherine and the queen in their signature looks.

While Melania's hat has a nice shape, it completely obscures her face - can't see it at all. I saw a meme today comparing her hat and suit to the 'Spy vs. Spy' comic strip. Now I can't unsee that image.

DeleteIf Catherine was not healthy, she would not be participating in public duties. If her medical team finds her in good health, it is not up to us to speculate. Being naturally thin is not a bad thing. We, as a society, have become accustomed to people carrying more weight so people who don’t are not as typical. She has been very slender for many years now. Just as with Letizia, healthy diet and exercise results in a slimmer figure. If Catherine’s health concerns were the cause, we can be sure she is being closely monitored and will have the best care.
DeleteWhen I saw that poor Camilla's heels sink into the pebbles in Windsor, I asked myself, what does Catherine do that her much thinner heels do not? Is she balancing on her toes? I cannot imagine walking/standing on those little stones in high heels ...other than that, Catherine's coat/coat ress has a beautifully swinging wider-than-usual skirt, I like it. The Queen's hat is a bit too high. Melania: very nice outfit, but I can't help finding that otherweise beautiful hat really inappropriate. I had the impression that Catherine cannot see her eyes when talking ... Camilla can because she is smaller. But this shows again that when choosing a hat, one has to consider the circumstances. I think Melania wants to hide - or even if not, this is the impression she evokes with this hat.

I don't believe Camillas heals sunk in the sand but rather that she was wearing sensible low heals. Melania's big hat's of late are a mystery to me. Why would she want to hide her face like that? Purple and black is not a flattering combination either, imo., looks very severe.

DeleteUpon seeing Melania's wide hat almost totally hiding her face, my first thought was: she doesn't want her facial expressions to be captured by cameras and journalists around there.
I think Melania is a clever woman, she knows what to show and what aspects of her personality to decline on the public stage.
Of course, this is just my point of view.
I have to say that that P.Catherine is a stunner as a Royal and Melania Is a stunner as a First Lady.
They are both show stoppers , each one in her own peculiar way and style.
Catherine is magnificent, that intense burgundy colour is divine on her and her light nut bronde hair shade + those symmetrical large waves are a work of art themselves.

She calls to mind some accomplished marvellous model back in the '50s moving and walking on a runway with such elegance and confidence!

Her navy suit paired with the berry/ purple wide- brimmed hat is perfection, as are her navy courts with medium heels.
William is handsome as always.

No, he is the Commander-in-Chief, meaning he is ultimately in charge of the military--the civilian leader. U.S. Presidents never wear military uniforms because there is a separation between civilian leadership and military authority. The U.S. Constitution mandates it even if the President has served in the military in the past.

That revision to the law was because the original salute, the Bellamy salute, was so similar to the salute the Nazi's had adopted. Saluting with a hand over the heart was originally for the Pledge of Allegiance. A second 1942 revision included the national anthem, under specific circumstances. There have been several more amendments since then, refining and expanding the law and the salute. In the 2008 amendment, military personnel who are not in uniform can salute the national anthem even if the flag is not present. While Trump's salute is not the norm, he is not the only president to salute during the national anthem. But then Trump's gonna Trump.

DeleteCatherine looks so elegant and immaculately groomed - I love the color and style of her dress and hat, her ruby and diamond earrings, and the Prince of Wales brooch. I like the color of the First Lady’s hat, but it seems overly large and blocks much of her face from view. I am impressed at her and Catherine’s ability to walk across a grassy field in stiletto heels. Camilla looks true to her usual style. The large sapphire brooch is amazing.

The suit of Melania is wonderful. The jacket is a kind of Dior 1950 design. The hat makes me think of hats Audrey Hepburn used to wear in several films. But for this occasion I do not think the hat is very polite. Kate looks impeccable in her signature look, however it's nice that the skirt is more voluminous than normal which looks so much better than the pencil look. Camilla very regal and perfect. Beautiful hat.

DeleteI burst out laughing looking at that last photo of HM The Queen and the FL. I wonder why Melania choose to look so ...drab? Neither the suit or the hat are bad on their own, but combined it looks so lifeless. Im rather excited to see all of the ladies look for the gala dinner, Melania has a good taste for gowns and the POW and Queen Camilla might surprise us with their choice of jewels

ReplyDeleteI don’t see a message, only a very chic hat. I happen to like it. It may give her a feeling of security to be less visible. I would imagine a great many women would feel overwhelmed at the thought of being the FLOTUS or in a similar position. I also wonder if Catherine’s hair is a kind of security for her. I wouldn’t be surprised.

The first Lady looks impeccable, love the Dior suit. I also like her hat, she looks so chic. Her hat, and the Presidents tie were apparently near the same color, I saw and read this somewhere. Love her overall look she is so stylish and a beautiful woman.

The Queen looks lovely in this shade of blue. Her Russian brooch, Sapphire and diamond looks sensational, what a glorious piece. I'm so happy to see she wore this beautiful brooch.
