On September 18, 2025, Queen Silvia presented the 2025 Queen Silvia Nursing Award to nurses, assistant nurses, and students who contributed innovative ideas to improve the care of elderly people and those living with dementia. Also present at the ceremony were Minister for Civil Affairs Erik Slottner, Minister for the Elderly Anna Tenje, and Petra Noreback, State Secretary to the Minister for Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed.
Afterwards, the Queen presented diplomas and flowers to the laureates. The 2025 awardees were Sonata Tomkeviciene (Lithuania), Samira Pusch (Germany), Aleksandr Kobza (Poland), Emma Sandberg (Finland), Natalie Simander (Sweden), and Catherine Emödi (Sweden).
The Queen Silvia Nursing Award was established to mark the Queen’s 70th birthday on December 23, 2013, with the aim of fostering lasting positive change in healthcare and social care, with a particular focus on the elderly. In addition to the prize sum of 50,000 SEK, the award includes a six-month individually tailored internship.
Queen Silvia looks elegant in this outfit. I see no more heels only flats. Great to see her again.
