On September 18, 2025, Queen Máxima attended a meeting in Amsterdam to mark the 40th anniversary of the Netherlands Brain Bank (NHB). Afterwards, Queen Máxima visited two laboratories of the Brain Bank where brain tissue is processed and stored. The Brain Bank collects brain tissue from deceased donors and makes it available to scientists worldwide. Scientific research on this tissue provides greater insight into the functioning of the brain.
The Netherlands Brain Bank collects brain tissue from both healthy donors and donors with physical or mental disorders. By comparing the control group with other groups, researchers gain insights into how brain disorders can be slowed down or even stopped. On this occasion, Queen Máxima wore a green silk dress from Natan’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection.

There styles tend to be newly created by milliners for the customer and very much suited to modern garments. I absolutely love that Maxima wears hats for big celebrations such as official openings and anniversaries to honour the people who invite her. Stunning!

ردحذفAs Natan has got the overall form of the dress right, the fact that he/they then shredded the skirt is forgivable. The upper and lower flatter her, even if we are harking back to the flapper /20s era here which is unusual. The colour is superb and her and she totally gets away with it. Fabulous hat.

حذفSo, the fringe is the most obvious problem to address here, but I´m equally annoyed at a) what´s going on with the underskirt/lining, b) the construction of the neckline, c) why Natan seems to insist to use shiny fabric, often in addition to bold colours and strange overall designs.
ردحذفRegarding a): I cannot quite wrap my head around what´s going on there. There is a skirt under the fringe, but it´s rather short to start with, it´s a strange colour that doesn´t go with the acid green AND it seems to have yet another lining that for some reason sticks out.
Regarding b) I really dislike necklines like this that are so high they make me wonder if the bodice is the wrong way around and the front was meant to be in the back. I know that´s not the case because of the visible seams and darts that are in the right place, but why would someone want the fabric to reach up to one´s neck and go right across? It´s so high and in the way it´s forced to crease where the neckline should have ended. The only reason to cut something like that is to create a plunging waterfall neckline, which of course is impossible to achieve with this type of fabric.
In spite of the nice color, this is not to my taste. I wonder where it could be appropriately worn.
ردحذفAt a party, at the circus (visitor of course), music festival, ... but even then, as Vanessa already wrote, there are evident imperfections there, the dress simply does not fit, not at the neckline, nor at the stomach, not at the hemline, the length is not really good. It's a mess, with or without fringes. The hat is nice, but too elegant for the dress.

حذفPure Maxima. You've got to hand it to her - she doesn't shy away from anything daring or edgy. If she likes the dress, she wears it. If she needs an occasion to wear it, she makes the occasion. And she wears it boldly with confidence and her ever present warm smile. I love the colour, the dress and the signature hat. The hat balances the quirkiness of the dress. This is modern royalty that can wear all kinds of clothing styles and genres (formal, high street, couture, traditional) and make it work for them.

Yikes, what an outfit, but boy can she wear it well. I like the colour especially if it is like in the 4th photo. I feel the skirt is too tight therefore does not hang the same as on the model. You can see the lining of the underskirt. What a gal, not afraid to wear what catches her eye.
ردحذفFirst I thought it was a rewear that has been transformed by adding the fringe. She had a dress in the same color and fabric in the past. But it appears to be new. I see that the dress on the model fits better. Maybe it pulled up because she sat in the car. I also think the dress itself is a bit tight. But somebody wrote about an uneven hemline which I don't see. About her hat(s). These hat(s) are not outdated they are made new for her by well known hatmakers. Her older hats probably cannot be worn anymore. In the past she had hats that where almost the same. Although there were not yet blog spots, I remember former Queen Beatrix received also many critics about her hats. There were magazines in those days entirely concerning the royals with photos of state visits abroad and in the home land accompanied by articles written by a sort of journalists which now would be called royalty watchers.

A mega hat like a cowboy on a sun-baked prairie, a skirt with tassels like a Latin samba dancer, mega earrings - all in shiny lime green, purple lips. Maxima went to visit a laboratory and a scientific institution dressed like this! I hope she didn't knock over any instruments or break their test tubes with that hat while moving.

It seems that Q.Maxima reversed the time of the day and wore an evening/ night dress as a daywear piece.
ردحذفNow, I am intrigued by this green shade, though the silk material looks way too stiff and crushed imv.
I would wear this number in no time to major dancing nights or parties BUT after having proper alterations made on the whole design, such as:
an off the shoulders bodice, no darts and no creases, then an even colour on both the upper and the lower part of the dress and a much shorter hem.
This would have to be a mini dress with fringes sewn on the waistline and swinging down to the ankles.
At this point, pairing accessoires with it would be problematic as this is a very particular and shiny green hue.
My preference would be golden accessoires, pumps and jewellery.
All in all, as I am not afraid to take risks and push boundaries, I might even venture to match purple or navy pumps and clutch.
The underlying idea in the making of this dress is valid and surely not an exclusive Natan design but the overall execution missed the mark.
Then, I would swang the hat by making an updo kept in place with a jewel, sparkling pin.
I surely would never conceive a dress like this to visit laboratoires where brain tissues are processed and stored.
It goes without saying that Maxima's bubbling personality is worth praising.
