On September 24, 2025, the National Museum presented its latest and most groundbreaking research at an exclusive event for foundations, partners, and special friends of the museum. Queen Mary attended the National Museum’s annual special event, Research Evening, for the first time. For the occasion, Queen Mary wore a navy crepe ruffle gown by Carla Zampatti.

One of the topics was “Blue Glass Beads,” with research findings presented by archaeologist and museum curator Jeanette Varberg. Afterwards, a reception was held in the museum’s foyer, where the museum’s experts showcased special objects from the collections. The National Museum is Denmark’s cultural history museum with the largest number of researchers. More than 50 researchers work at the museum, covering a wide range of fields.

  2. The dress is marvelous. It fits like a glove and is very slimming. I love the playful flounce/ruffle detail along the side and the navy colour. But I prefer the longer, more modest version shown on the model. Mary looks a bit too leggy while walking. She is top contender for best dressed royal this year.

A bit too leggy?!?! Fabulous legs, obviously so much muscle and hard work and sports involved. Cannot be too leggy!

Paloma.

      Blue Glass Beads
By Janet Varberg, archaeologist and museum curator

Important women were buried in Denmark with beads of the most transparent blue glass. Glass was a new invention that was traded across Europe from Mesopotamia, Babylon and Egypt, indicating that Denmark 3,400 years ago was part of a globalised world.

Her hair looks exceptional. The dress is just "ok" for me. I think I would prefer it a little longer.

Brilliant: one single huge frill, but on an otherwise completely simple straightforward gown. Lovely!

What a lovely dress! Unfortunately we cannot see too much of it on Mary, but what we can see on the model looks beautiful. It also looks like Mary has opted for a slightly shorter length, which makes the dress more practical for late afternoon as well as evening events. It looks lovely.

    1. Agree @Anon 9:13. The dress would look a little bit heavy if longer like on the model. Now it looks suitable for many occasions and wearable even in summer (although I think all colors are also suitable for summer).
Her hair looks fabulous and healthy.

This is a very flattering dress on Mary. I love the shorter length. It makes it so much more versatile. She has fantastic legs!

Queen Mary chose an Australian designer. I love this crepe sheath for its structure, then adds a whimsical ruffle along the side. Unusual and quite chic. Very nice choice.

She seems to have copied the curled hair of the Princess of Wales or she added extensions to her own hair. The color looks a bit darker too than during the summer. I like both colors on her.
The ruffles on the dress worn by the model are made of a thinner fabric than the ruffles on Queen Mary's dress.

.... "copied"? did the Princess of Wales invent curly hairs? Never seen before?

nobody copied anyone, thats in your mind.
Mary has always had good thick lovely hair

    3. Here we go again, "Princess of Wales Gate". No disrespect to her but this is getting tired that she is always copying her. Give me a break!!!. Is it me or does Mary just keep getting more beautiful with time!

Mary is not copying anyone, most of all Kate's outdated hair style. Mary's hair is a very nice length and she wears it in a variety of styles. Kate has become a one trick pony. And let's stop mistakenly assuming anyone with voluminous hair must be wearing extensions. Instead, learn about how the same head of hair is styled to make it look sleek and to make it look full. It is all in the styling and products used.

Pretty sure Queen Mary dosen't need to copy anyone. She is a beautiful woman, a gorgeous Queen and I think she most definately holds her own. The Brits could take style lessons from her.

Catherine the creator of the world. Before she appeared people walked around naked, barefoot without hairstyles without makeup, full primates. Good thing it's Catherine. The situation is if it wasn't tragic it would be funny. Some people definitely lead very impersonal lives.

This striking dress brings to light all its potential on Q.Mary's perfectly toned figure (particularly her legs), much more than on the model.
I did a fast search on the net and found this description on the stylist's site:

Drawn from the archives, this simple silhouette does not compromise on a perfect fit. Finished with expert tailoring, this navy gown is accentuated with a silk organza ruffle that falls down the left if the body.

    Model Wears: Size XS/6 | Model's Height: 177cm

This is one of Mary's best overall presentations ever imv.
I think that the navy colour is a nod to the blue glass beads topic.
I particularly love the side train on the dress, the pumps are to die for and her bouncing waves couldn't have been better styled, so healthy and glossy, too.
    Her earrings are statement pieces.
Her dewy makeup is applied to perfection, highlighting a top level mastery in the contouring execution.
I love the pics portraying the interaction between the Queen and the little boy,
    lovely!
I visited the National Museum more than a couple times, it's truly incredible.

Wow, wow, wow, best dress this year, I think! Everything is perfectly put together, I love those earrings! And the hair...! No extensions (Anonymous 07:30) just perfectly prepared I would say. Navy blue becomes Queen Mary very well.

This is up there with Queen Mary’s top looks. The dress has been altered to cater to Mary’s style. It’s super flattering. Hair and make up are perfection. The earrings need a post of their own. They are beautiful aquamarines! Stunning!
