Queen Margrethe Presents the 2025 Rungstedlund Prize to Author Ida Jessen

On September 12, 2025, Danish Queen Margrethe attended the 2025 Rungstedlund Prize ceremony at the Karen Blixen Museum in Rungsted. Upon her arrival at Rungstedlund, Queen Margrethe was welcomed by Michael Bjørn Nellemann, Chairman of the Rungstedlund Foundation. She presented the prize to Danish author and translator Ida Jessen, in recognition of her body of work within the great Nordic narrative tradition.

Ida Jessen made her debut in 1989 and has since published a number of children’s books, short stories, and novels. Over the years, she has received several awards for her works. In 2010, she was awarded De Gyldne Laurbær (The Golden Laurels) for Børnene (The Children), and for En ny tid (A New Time) she received both the Blixen Prize and the DR Novel Prize in 2016. In 2023, she was awarded the Georg Brandes Prize for Endnu en bog jeg aldrig skrev (Another Book).

The Karen Blixen Museum Rungstedlund has been under the patronage of Queen Margrethe and was founded in 1958 through crowdfunding and donations from Karen Blixen and her siblings. The foundation’s purpose is to preserve and promote cultural aims while protecting the scenic area around Rungstedlund as a bird sanctuary and a place of respite for people.
