On September 14, 2025, Princess Kako of Japan attended the opening ceremony of the 12th National High School Sign Language Performance Koshien, held at Acepack Miraichūshin in Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture. A day earlier, she visited a welfare facility in Yurihama, where she joined residents with disabilities in playing boccia, and later viewed exhibitions at the newly opened Tottori Prefectural Museum of Art.
The competition has been held annually since 2014 to promote sign language among people without hearing impairments by showcasing the communication skills of high school students. She has attended the event since its inception, except during her period of study abroad. On this occasion, she wore a midi skirt from Akiko Ogawa’s Spring/Summer 2025 Collection.
Japanese fashion, fantastic! What a beautiful skirt, I'm totally going to google the brand. She looks great and I admire her work for sign language.

I hope she stays as an active member of the Imperial family after her wedding, she is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really beautiful outfit! Although I prefere the version of the model where the dark blue blouse is over the waist part of the skirt, princess Kako looks sweet in her outfit. I'm not sure is it just a blouse or is it a combination of a blouse and a short jacket??
ReplyDeleteA brand! Albeit, Japanese, but still a brand and not something the Imperial tailors would have sewn for her according to the bidding of the IHA. Princess Kako is developing into the fashion icon of the JIF.
ReplyDelete佳子様はブラジル訪問の際に、この服を同じ生地の長袖ブラウスとセットで着ていましたね。
ReplyDelete今回彼女は黒のブラウスと合わせたことで、より素敵に見えます。
Arigato! Very interesting to learn from you.
DeleteI wish I could understand the Japanese comments.

"Princess Kako wore this outfit with a long-sleeved blouse made of the same fabric during her visit to Brazil.
This time, she's paired it with a black blouse, which makes it look even more beautiful."
You can use Google Translate for that. Works like a dream.

グーグルでは佳子さまの名前は正しく「Kako」と表示されるでしょうか。
漢字には幾通りかの読み方があり「Yoshiko」とも読めるのです。
I prefer the different possibilities shown by the Japanese brand.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors. Could be worn by the royals who are involved in or visiting water projects.
Belles couleurs de la jupe que j'aurais aimé retrouver dans le haut comme sur le mannequin ; elle est vraiment adorable surtout avec son grand sourire !
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely. A bright star with a wonderful smile and great fashion sense. Her outfit is amazing!
ReplyDeleteFinally something colourful and modern. She really looks lovely together with her wonderful smile
ReplyDeleteShe often wears beautiful and flattering colours. As for “modern”, different countries have different fashion, and so “modern” is quite context-specific. Japan has wonderfully held on to tradition and made their own new fashion in a different way from eg America.
DeleteFinally something colourful and modern. She really looks lovely together with her wonderful smile
ReplyDeleteShe looks very nice, I like this skirt very much, the blouse is okay but nevertheless it is perfect for her.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit has life, colorful not always pastel colors. She looks great and has a fantastic smile.

Kako is a star. Very modern & bringing up the JIF fashion to the next & new level. I love what she is wearing. Mary
ReplyDeleteShe is the fashion icon of Japan, very fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love the blouse and skirt combo for Princess Kako. I don't even mind that it is a bit too long, because she can carry off the look of the skirt quite well. This bold splash of color shows off her youthfulness and vibrance. Interesting that she embraces a more "trendy" fashion when going to community and charitable events/organizations on her own, versus the more traditional attire for imperial family events. Good for Pr. Kako!!
ReplyDeleteHi Virginia, where do you see it’s “a bit long”? Looks exactly as the designed designed it and as per the designer’s model?… therefore the right length not long. Looks beautiful eh?!
Deletefabulous fashion from the princess! can't wait to see more like this from Princess Kako. Lyra
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this outfit. The print of the skirt is so dramatic and eye-catching and the colour combination is amazing. I prefer the way Princess Kako wore it with the black blouse rather than the matching top. Superb!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and unusual skirt. I wonder if a lighter colored blouce might have showcased the skirt in a more flattering light. But that just personal choice.

佳子様は手話の集まりに出席する際にはいつも濃い色のトップスをお選びになります。
Deleteこれは手の動きがはっきりと見えるような配慮だろうと思います。
