On Friday, August 15, 2025, the Duke of Edinburgh, Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, attended the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2025 at Edinburgh Castle’s Esplanade, accompanied by the Duchess of Edinburgh. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual series of military performances featuring the British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and international military bands, as well as artistic performance teams, held on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle in Scotland’s capital.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh attended a Service of Remembrance marking the 80th anniversary of VJ Day at the Scottish National War Memorial, Edinburgh Castle. The special service was organised by the Royal British Legion and led by Reverend Dr Karen Campbell.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh attended the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025, a three-week performing arts festival held every August. The festival dates back to 1947, when eight theatre groups performed uninvited alongside the Edinburgh International Festival.
Ravissante Sophie dans cette robe Matelier à pans asymétriques ; elle est tout à fait à mon goût - Qui pourrait dire quel est l'homme sur la première photo dans un pantalon bariolé aux couleurs tartan ?!
ReplyDeleteI am also very positive about the Matelier dress. The Proenza Schouler dress is lovely as well. I would be delighted to wear them myself.
ReplyDeleteI don’t always appreciate Sophie’s choice of clothing, but I whole heartedly appreciate her and her husband’s duty to King and country. They are certainly a couple the king can call upon to represent him.
ReplyDeleteFashion wise,I don’t think the asymmetrical dresses are as flattering on Sophie as a knee length hem would be.
Lowri.
I agree about the asymmetrical hems.
DeleteIn my opinion, Sophie ruins whatever merits the Matelier dress might have by wearing a suit-type jacket over the dress (as she often does) instead of something more fitting for a dress (or wearing a merino tank for warmth under it...). This leaves the most unattractive feature fully visible: the uneven hem. The blue dress is visible and quite nice, except the uneven hem. She is really an admirable and beautiful person - but her taste is questionable at best. - One thing more: I would not rest my hand + handbag on the legs of the gentleman she talks to.
ReplyDeleteI like Sophie ‘s choice of dresses. I don’t like those military uniforms on Edward. Didn’t he quit the Royal Marines stating a military career was not for him?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful looks all around.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt in the last pic is lovely as well.
I like the stone red dress by Matelier. If only she would wear a short jacket or blazer with it. She made that style error before. A normal blazer type jacket does not look good with a dress like that. I see she is wearing new shoes ? Lovely but if it is correct what I see, the shoes have high block heels. Nothing wrong with that but with the Matelier dress they do not match.
ReplyDeleteThe other outfits I do not like like, especially the pink cashmere sweater is not something one can wear with a summer skirt just like that. She makes a style error here again.
She sure looks pretty in pink, it suits her so well. Just not a fan of the hemline. Perhaps if she were taller it would hit mid calf rather than ankle, where it just looks like extra fabric.
