  2. The print of this dress is very eye catching and interesting. I can see the designer put a great deal of thought into the placement of all the shapes giving the dress a very unique look. It's suitable for a royal who needs to stand out but it would be a bit bold for the ordinary person to wear.

Wow I disagree. This dress can be worn by anyone, a shirtwaist dress, the pattern is just a suitable as a bold floral pattern. Might look best in hot weather. And gee why can’t an ordinary person stand out. As long as the fit is correct and they suit the colours it will be very becoming.

I don't agree. I think this dress would be great for anyone on any occasion. I love the pattern and the colors.

It would be advisable to reconsider the "bold"concept.
To me it is basically a very normal, absolutely summery and vivid print anyone - be it royal or not- can wear
It much depends on the attractiveness and body shape of the wearer and D.Sophie has it all, of course.

Dear Sandra, fair comment and it’s interesting to hear your thoughts - not right or wrong or requiring reconsideration (??!?), but simply a valid and kindly put opinion. I personally love the print and would gladly wear it, not to stand out or not but because I love it and the set of colours it involves.

      @ Sandra
I just wanted to highlight that my personal concept of what can look " bold" on a person Is quite different.
To me, bold equates to " edgy" and I can't see anything on Sophie which could align with the " bold" definition.
I fully respect your point of view nonetheless.

How very special and heart-warming. Warm, compassionate Sophie looking so kind and interested speaking with marvellous young Jim at 105, dressed beautifully for the occasion in suit and tie. I hope the visit has left him feeling valued and special.

Hello dearest Ava, how are you?
I'm still enjoying my holiday but here I am ...da da...Surprise!!
Yes, I do agree with your comment.
You know, I'm currently donning tops and bulky , wide- legged, incredibily sloppy pants with bizarre prints and I am enjoying moving free and barefoot!
People, please, don't blame me for dressing " boring and ugly" .
It is the legitimate desire of accomplished fashionista!
Ah, the freedom I feel wearing my" horrible" clothes...it's so priceless and I embrace it.
I am the most charming " aunt" on the beach, I think.😉
Hope to hear from you soon,
      hugs to you.

Hi, Ava and thank you so much for your lovely reply.
As I said, I am still on holiday (in Italy , my home country) and my gosh , it's pretty hot in here!
Basically, I have always disliked the heat intensely but I love to have some time for a vacation at last!
You know, maybe it's just me but I am becoming increasingly intolerant to hot weather and suffering the heat much more now than when I was living in Italy.
      Why?
Well, first , I have adjusted by now to different weather conditions in northern Europe and then the climate changes have produced a scary raise in temperatures in some European countries, including Italy.
That's why I said that I am currently in a sloppy mood fashionwise.
Just impossible to even think of dressing to a tee in such hot Italian weather!
You are always so kind, thank you.
Yes, I ll take good care and knock on the blog door as often as possible.
      Hugs!!

    4. P the original. Lovely to receive your comment, always so nice to hear from you, your like a breath of fresh air!!!! thanks so much. Ha Italy, marvelous, obviously never been, but I have heard such positive comments, beautiful people and country. Yes, understand, funny that I am the same, with regards heat, I think I had more tolerance when I was younger (that would be said for lots of things LOL!) I concur, Climate change yes, its affected us here in our country, we cannot afford to get any hotter! We use lashings of sun factor! Oh, comfortable clothes for the hot weather definitely, your wise. At least your more comfortable. Enjoy the rest of your holiday in your home country, how lovely for you and make the most of it. Take care. Hugs!!!!!

Hello dearest Ava and thank you so much again for your lovely and kind reply.
      Surprise!!
I have just written a comment in Italian for you, so that you can kind of " breath" the Italian atmosphere, including its language (they say It like a sort of sweet music to listen to, but I am too partial to It so I can't t have a say...
I know I am partial again but, yes, everybody say Italy and Italians are great and normally engaging and down to earth people.
It Is a marvellous country, full of history, art and culture and striking places to visit everywhere.
But the heat, my, the heat!!
Sob, I think I'm gonna melt at some point.
Aircon is the only solace but, alas, It doesn't t help much after all.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
You know, today Is " Ferragosto" in Italy , a religious and state holiday.
      It Is the summer climax.
      Hugs!!

Very welcoming, engaging, friendly and hard working here in this country, starting restaurant business's coffee shops etc... marvelous for our country.... I'm not sure how to cope with the heat at this point, I'm not looking forward to our summer that is coming sooner than later. Try and keep cool Thank you so much for your description of your country, it sounds wonderful. Take good care. Hugs!!!!

      Hello, Ava, thank you!!
I am really glad you enjoyed my messages, including the Italian one.
They say that the Italian language is so sweet but incredibily difficult and I agree with that.
Grammar must be so hard to learn for non native speakers.
You are right, Italian excellance can be found in many sectors, especially catering, fashion and accomodation services in general.
In more recent times an increasing number of Italian youngsters choose to study and work abroad.
When I first left home to begin my studies in England, my parents were terribly concerned.
I still remember and hear inside of me their loving recommendations.
You see, I had a penchant for foreign languages since I was a child.
I don't know where It all came from buy I felt like mesmerized when hearing tourists speaking in English or German or any other foreign languages.
When I was ten, I still remember myself holidaying with my parents .
At some point , my parents didn't find me anymore and began a frantic search to " rescue" me somewhere.
      Guess where they found me...
I was talking with a group of Americans!!
Well, not just talking, if you consider that I just knew a lvery restricted amount of English , exactly what a child could learn at school.
I simply was on cloud nine when I started listening to them and forgot my parents and everything else!
When mum and dad found me they couldn't believe I could escape from control to interact with foreign guests!
German had the same effect on me but It was far more difficult for me to understand when I was a teenager.
Anyway, nothing could ever stop me from engaging with people from different foreign countries.
So I decided to study abroad when I came of age.
I still have my overlappings, which means that sometimes different languages structures overlap when I have to switch suddenly from one to the other.
But I am quite used to it by now .
Wishing you a nice day and hugs!!

I don't like shirtwaist dresses, so I am sure I am subjective on it, but here is my take. A very colourful and bold, also somewhat "hard" print can be a striking feature on a very simple, preferably collar- and sleeveless, knee-length, beltless shift dress. Everything beyond that is (for me, of course) too much boldness and strikingness taking place, with no visible body shape of the wearer. - The cause is of course wonderful (UAE bank branch opening Beatrice could take note if she wanted to :-), as is Sophie as a person, but her personal taste as for what works for her is questionable.

      حذف
    2. غير معرف13/8/25 21:29

@Anon 16:46 "Why ...": because it can be more becoming than hiding it, depending of course on the culture we live in. Note please, I was not referring to skin-tight clothing. Here the pattern dominates everything else, in my humble opinion (which I do not force on anyone else).

We cannot see the dress when Sophie is standing up. I suppose it is too long as usual. I also think the dress suits the model better. The horizontal lines on the hemline cut the wearer into two pieces : the upper halve and the lower halve.

Sigh 13:33 … of course the dress looks better on the model … that’s the whole point of using models in marketing! We can have no idea how airbrushed and altered the marketing photos are - whereas Sophie is a real woman wearing the dress … and may I say, looking beautiful in it.
