Queen Mary Attends the Opening of Bharti Kher – Mythologies Exhibition
On August 22, 2025, Queen Mary attended the opening of the exhibition Bharti Kher – Mythologies at the Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen. The exhibition features Indian deities and human bodies in many forms and life situations, presented through the contemporary sculptures of Bharti Kher. The Queen was given a tour of the exhibition by museum director Annette Johansen, artist Bharti Kher, and curator Siri Buric. The exhibition showcases 27 works addressing historical ideas of body, identity, and culture. These works are displayed alongside the museum’s permanent collection, creating connections between Bharti Kher’s contemporary art and Bertel Thorvaldsen’s classical sculptures. The exhibition will remain open until March 2026.
Oh my, lately Mary's fashion choices leave a lot to desire. What an awful suit.
ReplyDeleteUgh oh…the Mary fanatics will accuse you of being jealous or not understanding fashion because you have your own valid opinion and don’t mindlessly adore everything she wears. 😉 (Agree about the suit…not one of her best outfits.)
DeleteNot to my liking as a suit, it fits her well. Perhaps the jacket on its own would be nice
ReplyDeleteDear@ Deadeggs,
Deleteyou already know how much I appreciate your kind and humorous comments.
Now, please I wonder why you used the definition " edgy".and if you could clarify this term for me?
You know, I'd call edgy something more on the risque' side though It is likely to have different meanings in other contexts..
Cheers👋👍
Hello P. the original.
DeleteSome info I picked up on the net (copy/paste) relating to the word “edgy” which I used in relation to Queen Mary’s ensemble.
/1 Edgy fashion is all about embracing non-conformity and pushing boundaries.
/2 Although personal to everybody, this fashion genre reflects the idea of unconventional and different.
/3 Think bold, defiant and cool.
/4 Women with a smart, edgy style aesthetic are not afraid to take risks with their wardrobe choices.
p.s. I think Queen Mary has made an excellent choice of outfit for visiting the exhibition.
Very much in tone with the event.
Love the botanical print of this suit…something different. Mary looks great!
ReplyDeleteAgree, anon at 20:34.
DeleteI agree too with 20:34. I think people react negatively because it’s uncommon. But to study the design, it’s a beautifully cut suit; and the print is really a lovely botanical print. I’d wear this.
DeleteVery "edgy"
DeleteI love it.
Bravo Queen Mary.
Sorry, @ Deadeggs, could you please read my comment for you ?
DeleteI put it in the wrong place ...
I feel the printed jacket and trouser too much. Maybe worn individually, with a muted colored top. The two together is too busy.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Agree with you.
DeleteAva
Agree. I liked the look of the jacket in the first pic, then when I saw the whole suit, the reaction was ‘oh, no!’ The jacket with plain black, grey or white trousers would look fine. Perhaps the trousers would be okay with a plain top or jacket but I’m not certain I’d ever like them.
DeleteHi Lowri.
DeleteI agee wiih you, this outfit is way too busy.
Plain colored pants would have been easier on my eyes.
I hope Mary doesn't have a new stylist.
Cate.
One of the most ridiculous outfits ever. Who does she think will like this?
ReplyDeleteI don't think she cares if you don't like it. She looks great.
Delete20:48… I suspect she wears it because she likes it, very similar to the way you choose your clothes because you like them. ( and she’s unlikely to say in public you look ridiculous ;-))
DeleteIs it not enough if Mary likes it? This suit is from the past season and we have seen many dresses with the same/almost same motifs from different fashion brands; restrained monochromatic patterns on a light backround.
DeleteI understand that this whole suit is too much for some but imo the outfit is just right for this art exhibition. It also looks much better than maxi dresses with similar motifs (which we have seen her). The suit is also well balanced with the flared trousers and it fits perfectly.
...(which we have seen here)...
DeleteI think Q.Mary is clever enough to know that her outfits don't t have to please everyone.
DeleteWho wants to be accepted at all costs and in all places possible is a vulnerabile person in the first place.
Who has enough confidence doesn't need others' unconditional approval to exist and move around.
I wonder why you made such a comment.
Way too much print. The bottom, or the top with a solid color, otherwise, a definite no from my point of view, a lot like her other choices lately.
ReplyDeletewhat an awful suit. I wish Mary remembers that she is a queen and acts as an influencer that jumps on fast fashion trends such as this suit and the fishermen trousers.
ReplyDeleteAnominem, I’m sure she remembers she’s the queen and does that job beyond reproach. There is nothing in the job description of a queen that demands she wear what you prefer. She is beautifully groomed and wearing a suit that fits her very well, that she chose to wear. That’s ok. Well within the queen job description.
DeleteAlway love Mary's outfits, but this looks like a pair of pajamas.
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteI like the blazer paired with a black slacks or skirt/dress would have been very nice for me. Both parts with this pattern is a bit much, at least for me.
ReplyDeletecss
I disagree ( with all who say wear only top or bottom) - the whole point of this is to be dramatic, so for me it is all in or all out. I love it, but it is definitely not her usual - which for me is a positive. The blue/green/grey/black suits worn by queens and princesses get a bit dull and boring - in my opinion. LRB
DeleteQueen Mary needs a new stylist!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could apply. But here, a bit more articulate opinions would be welcome.
DeletePerhaps her daughters are helping her choose
Delete@21:30… because she wears an outfit you don’t personally like (fair - fashion is individual) you’re suggesting she changes staff?! Ha!
Delete@ Anonymous 21:30
DeleteYou are again repeating yourself.
It seems you have formulas or replicas you attach everywhere on this blog.
While I like the print of this suit, I for one am on the fence as to the overall presentation.
So, don't worry, there are no Q Mary worshippers here, just people capable of saying 'sic et simpliciter' that one of her outfits is not to her best advantage.
I think this is the case.
As you yourself said,
" they
(extended to all the royals) are humans, not Gods and humans may put a foot wrong every now and then.
No drama and no stylist change needed , then.
I totally agree!
DeleteI fully agree with 06:40. Even if it is not to the liking of all colleagues, her suit is also attractive to others, and not a reason for excessive criticism. Personally I would not wear it, but I recognize that Mary wears it with elegance and originality at the same time. Well done.
DeleteWhole suit pattern is also not my favourite, a bit too playful - but the fit is really perfect. To call it pajamas or ridiculous ... it is a pity that some commenters cannot find and use more civilised expressions.
ReplyDeleteI think this is one those suits in which you should wear the pieces separately. Both together seems a bit too much in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThe suit is hideous. I think Mary's choices at times can be a bit off beat.
ReplyDeleteIn reply to Anonymour 21.30, I think Queen Mary did get a new stylist! - groan !
ReplyDeleteAwful. She can do mich better.
ReplyDeleteDas wirkt zusammen alles etwas gedrungen. -Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteDorothe, Sie kennen Marys Naturell, wow.
DeleteThe printed jacket is fine, but not with the same print of the pants, its too much. The fit and style of the ensemble I like just not the pattern of the fabric.
ReplyDeleteHas she done something to her face?
ReplyDeleteNo, nature made her beautiful since the day she was born.
DeleteIt happens to some women.
I thought so too !! Visible fillers imo
DeleteImplants.
DeleteNO fillers, no implants, clearly you can see the wrinkles......
DeleteThis is a beautifully cut and beautifully fitted suit, with a lot of pattern. I think it would be better tolerated by the outraged commenters above if: 1. There were a visible black or white simple tshirt showing at top (I think she has a black singlet on but it doesn’t peek out); 2. The cuffs were hemmed better to not drag and reveal more show. She looks stunning, but we are not used to fully patterned suits except on pyjamas. Of purse to wear either half with plain black or white jacket or trousers would be more conservative and very lovely, but she has dared to wear the whole thing and why not?!
ReplyDeleteJacket is O.K.
ReplyDeleteThe trousers a big NO.
O wow what a really beautifull exquisite stylish suit!
ReplyDeleteLook at the cut of the jacket: so smoothly done!
She is quite right not to combine it with a top: the suit itself is sufficient.
Is she wearing sandals?
Cannot see them well, but the flat open informal shoes is a good combination.
Something new and different, but lately can do much better.
ReplyDeleteMary looks so fresh but in my opinionen the trousers are little bit too much: white trousers would have been so much better.
ReplyDeleteA nice suit, the cream/black combination creates a subtle look. Perfect for this artistic event. She looks sharp.
ReplyDeleteLove this suit ... surprisingly different and suits Queen Mary very well ...

ReplyDeleteHer suit is perfect.
Paloma.
Fashion is art after all, so each to their own taste. The suit is nice, fits well, pattern okay but overall for me it is too much. I try to envision it as a dress or skirt, but no , despite being a nice botanical print it is too much as a pant suit. Imo
ReplyDeleteI really like this suit. The cut is beautifully executed and the pattern is actually subtle as patterns go, especially for the classic black and white color combination. The moment I saw it, I could predict the comments. Anything that is fashion forward is panned by a core group here. It is rather sad that there is so little tolerance for new and different designs. We cannot expect these women to wear the same things day after day, year after year. Styles change and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a woman's style evolving with time. There are many things I don't care for that Mary wears, but she has some great pieces she has added to her wardrobe. I hope she continues to be adventurous with some of her choices. This is certainly more interesting to look at than the same old blouse and skirt combinations. I can't help but think this is a signal that their reign will be more modern.
ReplyDeleteGood point. This suit is for sure a talking point.
DeleteI hope she remains more adventures!
I bet we would see many "boring" and/or "granny look" and/or "she can do better" and/or "who is her stylist" comments, had Mary chosen to wear only one half of this ensemble with the other half being black or white. Some people don't seem to understand that royal fashion is something very different from latest fashion.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit truly, the cut is great and the print is very different. Later the blazer can be worn with black (leaning to blue) pants and the pants can be worn with a black (leaning to blue) blazer. After that if one wants to get creative the outfit can be colored in with textile paint :)
