Peter Phillips has announced his engagement to NHS nurse Harriet Sperling. Two photos showing Harriet Sperling displaying her engagement ring as she embraces Peter Phillips were released to mark the occasion. A statement issued on behalf of the couple said: "Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement." No official date has been set for the wedding yet.[ads id="ads1"]
Their statement read: "Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, and Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have confirmed their official engagement." Peter Phillips is believed to have started dating Harriet Sperling in 2024. The couple made their public debut at the Badminton Horse Trials in May 2024. Phillips was previously married to Autumn Kelly. For the photo shoot, Harriet Sperling wore a matching white cotton cheesecloth top and skirt set by the British label Me+Em.ME+EM Cheesecloth Top and Midi Skirt

DeleteI don't think that this happy announcement should turn into a "beauty contest", anon01:18. Also, beauty always lies in the eyes of the beholder, therefore is very subjective. Mrs. Sperling already has a child, Mr. Phillips has two children; marriages last, marriages break, so what?

No big wedding, I presume. At least not one publicly funded, as Mr. Phillips is not a working royal, nor has he a title. In all likelihood, there will be some sort of coverage of the wedding, but no separate broadcast. His first wedding wasn't a huge public affair either, btw.

DeleteWhy do couples divorce? So many reasons. How do you know that Autumn Kelley-Phillips was devastated? Perhaps she was the one seeking divorce and was glad it went through rather smoothly. Perhaps Peter Phillips was the one being devastated. Why so many assumptions when most, if not all, details are unknown and kept private anyway?
DeleteWhen you marry into the British royal family, you also marry history, tradition and obviously protocol. Protocol has many facets. If you are not prepared to face this reality and consider it „stuffy“, as you describe it, then you should abstain from such a marriage. It is not only glitter, but hard work, obligations and constant observation.

DeleteI disagree that Peter “should ” whiten his teeth. He has a lovely natural smile and his teeth are a natural colour appropriate to his age. Outside of the USA artificial teeth whitening isn’t particularly popular.

DeleteQueen Margrethe and Camilla are two royals that have their teeth whitened, and maybe more done cosmetically. Their teeth were arguably worse than Peter's. It is true that teeth whitening is more of a US thing. What "should" happen is for people to stop saying that any of the people we comment on "should" do anything. We all have our own personal preferences and cultural norms.
DeleteI feel we are so used to seeing unnatural whiter than white teeth, its a rare to see natural colored teeth. Teeth change color with age, its a natural occurrence. Peter looks natural and has a wonderful smile.
DeleteIn most of West-European countries the dentists actually encourage their patients to use special tooth paste to whiten your teeth. When I go to the dentist for my 6 months control he always clean my teeth and take off the stains made by drinking tea, coffee and red wine. I do not smoke but also smoking make your teeth darker. The dentists also advice their patients how to take care of their teeth themselves and what kind of tooth paste and mouth water they have to use. They also advice to use interdental brushes and waxed floss. It takes time doing this 3 times a day but it's worth it. Your teeth and gums look healthier and you will keep your natural teeth much longer.

DeleteMrs. Sperling comes from a rather wealthy family herself. Because she works for the NHS (as a nurse) doesn't mean that she can't afford to dress up to protocol at events like Royal Ascot, etc. Why assume that?
