Buckingham Palace has released a new portrait of Princess Anne in celebration of her upcoming birthday. Princess Anne turns 75 on August 15. The photo shows the Princess with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. It was taken by Chris Jackson. Princess Anne is a member of the British royal family. She is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and the only sister of King Charles III.

The portrait of Princess Anne and her husband was captured before the State Banquet at Windsor Castle in July. The diplomatic dinner was held in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to the U.K., which took place from July 8 to July 10. In the portrait, Princess Anne is wearing the embroidered Maureen Baker dress and beaded white bolero she wore in one of her 70th birthday portraits in 2020. She is also wearing the Festoon tiara, complemented by a diamond necklace.

  1. Beautiful portrait! Their smile is wonderful and so the photos are kind of relatable and regal at the same time!

Don't you have to love her for stoically wearing the same outfit as for the photo for her 70th birthday? It is elegant, it fits her like a glove, but it is visibly not "latest fashion" (so what). I do love her (also) for that. May she have many happy and healthy years ahead of her.

She is known to wear clothes from 45 years ago, save the planet Anne!

The first time I see the dress in close-up. I cannot say I like it. A bit pale given the fact that PA is rather pale herself. Also the bolero is a style one does not see anymore these days. I bet she never wears the dress without the bolero. The sleeves of the bolero can use a good ironing. The fabric of the dress (I think it is silk) is something that creases very quickly. Maybe in another color and with a bodice instead of the bolero it could look better. Her hair is even worse than on an average weekday doing one of her usual visits.

Dear Commenter, whoa … was there really nothing in such a joyful photo for you to make a positive comment on? If I were Anne and saw your comment, I would cry!

She has a wonderful, genuine expression here but I do not like this ivory colour on her at all. It washes her out completely. I’d add that her frugality in rewearing her clothes has been taken to the extreme. This fabric in this outfit for example looks quite limp and tired. I am a huge fan of P. Anne and applaud her dedication and work ethic but many times her clothes do her no favours. (V.M.)

What a beautiful photo. No airs, no graces, only natural aging and joy (and spectacular jewels of course). Gracious aging is so admirable! Her dress looks to be the finest fabrics, gorgeous details and an absolute classic.

The Telegraph wrote to Anne's 70 birthday (wearing this same dress): "Anne’s white dress is by Maureen Baker, the designer who created hundreds of outfits for Her Royal Highness when she was young, including her wedding dress for her first marriage to Captain Mark Phillips in 1973. So although the look suggests grandeur, it’s also another sign of the Princess Royal’s thriftiness. She updates the look with a bolero jacket by Sue Palmer.
These kinds of pictures are now a rare part of royal portraiture. The young royals, particularly the Cambridges, prefer to emphasise their unfussiness and love for the countryside in the imagery they release rather than reminding too often of the more glittering side of royal life." (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/royals/rewearing-regal-glamour-message-behind-princess-annes-70th-birthday/). Very true, the thing with the glittering side. It does not have to be newest fashion. - Additionally: Just remember how and where quickly bought and quickly discarded clothes land when not fashionable any more - and what it does for the environment here, there and everywhere.

Yes yes yes to the clothing environmental damage comment. Fast fashion and its disposal problem is a massive, even obscene, environmental issue.

I want to like the dress, perhaps it is the colour or the necklace that throws it off. I like that it is a rewear, it is missing a spark of colour. Her smile is lovely and for me I love the shade of lipstick, it brightens her face.

Great photo of the Princess Royal and Sir Tim--happy, warm smiles. Love this photo--its like a quick snapshot instead of a posed and filtered formal portrait. Happy Birthday to Princess Anne!!!

Sorry, Dear 13:16, As far as the hairdo is concerned, your icy comments are rubbish. Photos from all angles are on the Internet, where we are pampered with a surprising, very becoming professional bun, praise from all quarters, and I suggest you do some research.

Nice picture of them together. It seems Anne has a different hair style, really looking good. A very happy 75th Birthday to a very hard working RL.
