The Princess of Wales Curates Her Own Mini Exhibition at the V&A East Storehouse
The Princess of Wales personally collaborated with the museum's curatorial team to select eight significant works from across its vast collection for her ‘Makers and Creators’ exhibition. It will be unveiled on July 30 and will remain on view until early 2026 at the V&A East Storehouse. The Makers and Creators exhibition aims to highlight how historical objects influence contemporary fashion, design, film, and art.[ads id="ads1"]Items chosen by the Princess of Wales include a Victorian Morris & Co. furnishing screen designed by John Henry Dearle, assistant to William Morris, and a costume by Oliver Messel—one of Britain's foremost stage designers—for the Fairy of the Woodland Glade, worn by Diana Vere in the Royal Ballet's 1960 production of The Sleeping Beauty.Other pieces handpicked by the Princess include a watercolor painting of a forest glade by children's author Beatrix Potter, a medieval Somerset church tile, and a Welsh quilt handmade nearly 200 years ago.The mini exhibition also features a Chinese blue-and-white Qing dynasty porcelain vase dating from the mid-17th to early 18th century, a sculpture by Clemence Dane of her own hands, and a childhood photo album belonging to Beatrix Potter’s father, Rupert Potter. V&A East is a branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum, located in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London.
This is the same outfit she wore a few weeks ago

in otherwords, no new Fashion News
Paloma.
@3:44 its a fashion blog
DeleteWell discovered Paloma! I hadn’t realised and assumed it a nice rewear!! To 19:09, you are rather stating the obvious there, great, but what’s your opinion of Catherine’s outfit, given it’s a fashion blog as you’ve pointed out?
DeleteOnce she decides on a signature look for official engagements and sticks to it people will stop calling her a fashion icon, then they can concentrate on the work she does.
DeleteThat’s a fantastic project for a woman with a degree in art history. Good on you, Catherine! I hope she gets a lot of joy and good learning too from the professionals with whom she collaborates. I love the simplicity of this outfit, and as we know she has said a few months back she hope the public focus will go to her work and not her clothes, I think this sort of outfit works well. Well cut coloured suit, simple top, shoes that coordinate (I also would love to see same suit with white sneakers).
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with Anonymous 12:09!
DeleteUnfortunately for someone with a degree in Arts History this kind of work seems to be low on the priorities list. I can probably count the number of times she did that on the fingers of a single hand.
DeleteFashion wise, skinny pants (re-worn as may be) seem to have more to do with her need to highlight her fitness level than anything else.
The lady in the white suit and black blouse looks very chic. DIQ
ReplyDeleteI agree about the white suit. And I am happy when the Princess of Wales re-wears her lovely, well-cut , expensive suits and other outfits to these community events. And I applaud her for trying to focus on charity/community versus her fashion. I hope the royals can get away from this notion of a "new outfit for every public appearance" like the late Queen Elizabeth did. Good quality clothing should be re worn and not wasting tax payer dollars. State dinners and state visits are another matter and require fashionable attire.
DeleteAgreed - my thoughts exactly. Yuliia
DeleteI wonder if the high heels police will show up today.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the hair police aren't here already, lol.
DeleteMay be they're at the donut shop getting coffee and a six pack.
- Anon 9:13
There are no police - just people thinking about fashion together including shoes. Do you have a point of view on the clothes Catherine is wearing here?
DeleteThank you! Anon 9:13 - That's a good one:) Yuliia
DeleteAnon at 9:13: you are giving away your Canadianess. No one else will understand what a six-pack means (although there are a few Tim’s down south).
DeleteLa couleur de ce tailleur lui va à merveille surtout dans cette couleur bleue ; magnifiques ses cheveux qui poussent bien vite ou est-ce que ce sont des extensions ?!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure extensions (but on long hair to begin with)
DeleteI agree 1814 extensions, you can see the difference in texture. Fine to use them.
DeleteFine to use extensions by me too. Except that for so many there are two standards: one for Kate and a very different, quite the opposite, for Meghan. Such biased hate is hard to stomach in this day and age. No hopes for decency in so many commentators’ double standards.
Delete@Anons 18:14 and 22:35 Will you kindly point out where you see evidence of Catherine wearing extensions? I don't see anything more than her usual full and thick hair.
Deleteoh to be in Catherine's shoes and be able to view and peruse that vast museum collection; amazing
ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely, hair extensions or not!
ReplyDeleteAgree
DeleteAgree, and a bit shorter looks fresher and spicier, the barbie curls are sometimes too much of a good thing.
DeletePrincess Catherine studied art history when she was at the university, her dream as a young woman was to work art!
ReplyDeleteVery good suit in nice colour that for me she can wear every day and never will get boring!
