On July 4, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Kent County Show at the Kent Showground in Maidstone, in her role as patron of the Association of Shows and Agricultural Organisations. This marked her first visit to the event since 2009. The show, which runs through Sunday, features livestock, agricultural machinery, demonstrations, trade stalls, local food producers, and even show jumping events.
Organised by the Kent County Agricultural Society, the show brings together people from across the county to highlight the importance of agriculture and rural industries. The Kent Showground — formerly known as the Kent County Showground — is located in Detling, Kent, just north of the county town of Maidstone.

Beautiful dress, but....well, you already know what. I don't even have to say it.

Know exactly what you mean. I’ve now decided to look at photos of the Duchess from the knees upwards so I can ignore the long skirts and ugly footwear! Using these criteria, she looks great.
Delete@AnnieM lol. I think I must also try that strategy :))
Delete(She's a beautiful woman too, with so much style potential.)

I like the knees up strategy and plan to try it! I don't care for a lot of her footwear, but I do disagree about the espadrilles. While they are not popular with the readers here, they remain popular footwear.
DeleteHi Annie M and Anon 9 :13.
DeleteI tend to agree with just about everything that the two of you write.
Perhaps I too might start just looking at Sophie's dresses from the knees up!
I sometimes wonder if Sophie actually has a stylist because she should have addressed the issue of her dresses being too long on too many occasions.
Cate.
She looks happy and carefree, but not loving the large print dress and extremely long hemline.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of big florals in bold colours. The print is too busy, too hard on the eyes. It might be a good choice for a royal who needs to stand out in a crowd.
ReplyDeleteSo many florals (except the staff) from head to the feet. The Duchess has chosen a pattern that looks like a busy 18th century floral tapestry. However, tapestries are stationary. Hopefully the animals don't get visually overstimulated (I do from this dress).
ReplyDeleteOh non Sophie - Si je dois avoir une préférence pour une robe, j'opterais pour celle de la dame qui porte un modèle fleuri sur fond bleu pâle !
ReplyDeleteVery nice dress today.

Beautiful dress again and love the espadrilles with it. She has been busy almost every day lately. So appreciate her!!

The dress, looks good, I like the style, but the pattern of the fabric too strong for me, but regardless Sophie looks lovely.
