On July 2, 2025, Queen Mathilde visited the Van Buuren Museum and Gardens in Uccle, a former Art Deco villa and adjoining garden estate created by art collectors David and Alice Van Buuren. The museum houses a remarkable collection of furniture, carpets, stained-glass windows, sculptures, and paintings by international masters.
The museum, once a private residence in Uccle, was transformed into a museum in 1975 according to the wishes of Alice Van Buuren. It was designated a National Heritage Site in 2001. This year, the museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary and the centenary of the Art Deco movement with Around Art Deco — an exhibition dedicated to sculpture from the interwar period. For the occasion, the Queen wore a printed dress by Carolina Herrera.
The frill on the skirt is an overkill, it doubles the size of her hips compared to that of her shoulders. I had to look twice at this amount of green leaves under the waistline, if is it real or a photoshop trick ...
ردحذفI agree. This is one of the few CH dresses that I have not liked. The print is gorgeous but it needs a simpler skirt design without the ruffled layers. (V.M.)

حذفI'd like to add: No problem at all with wide hips. They are feminine, they are fine, and I don't think one has to try to make them look smaller. Just respect the proportions the body has and don't make them look that much wider for fashion's sake.

I agree with you. I like the dress and the pattern but belted and frilled is just too much. Also not ideal for Queen Mathilde’s shape, I feel
حذف@AnnieM Yes I agree with you too. Belted and tiered is too much for most body shapes (people like Letizia can sometimes pull it off). Also because of Mathilde's high waist the dress doesn't fall properly on her. The lower tier sits too high and the dress falls to a shorter length than it's designed to.

The dress is ok, if you are a certain frame, but sadly, not Mathilde's frame. The shoes are also a no, her feet look swollen and pushing the toes out. Bless her heart, she needs to wear more comfortable shoes.

حذفHer feet are swollen because of the heat. Not because of the shoes. Even if she should wear orthopedic comfort sandals, her feet would be swollen too. I have the same problem, always when it so hot my ankles and feet are swollen. All the treatments and cremes and excercises do not help, only rest with your feet higher than your body can bring some relieve.

My feet swell after a long flight, but they returned home from Chile about a week ago.
Besides, the royal couple wouldn't have been squashed into cattle rails,
they would have been in first class so able to stretch out.!

حذفThey were in a leased plane together with the Belgian delegation. They where at 3000 meter altitude just before they could fly home and it was not exactly warm there. Because of all the trouble with the plane they came home on Sunday which is 4 days ago. On Monday Queen Mathilde had already a visite to Floreffe. They were just back before the heat flow started. On Monday she looked really tired, her feet were not swollen yet and she wore black sling backs with heels.

Yes Mathilde did look tired in the close up shots on her first engagement back in Belgium.
It normally takes me a few days to recover from a long flight.

I like this dress especially the colours. She looks lovely, must be cool to wear. I much prefer this length than to the ankle as other royals wear.

Belgium is known for the houses and villa's in Art Nouveau and Art Deco style. Some of them are situated in Brussels, other in Antwerp and maybe also in Gent. Several of them became museums.

Elle a d'autres belles robes d'été dans lesquelles on ne la voit plus non plus. Je me demande où elles sont passées. ردحذفQueen Mathilde looks much better in a dress with a pencil skirt. I can understand that a shirt dress with a wide skirt feels very comfortable during Summer. But the wide skirt like somebody said has too much fabric. Maybe a dress with a straighter skirt would look better and no ruffle please.

ردحذفThe green color and basecolor are not bright enough or suitable for the complexion of her skin. The skirtpart is too wide; it makes the queen look ‘bigger’ than she actually is.
ردحذفCamouflage dress. In the first photo I almost thought her dress was the same material as the carpet. Then in the following photos the dress is blending in with the trees. I'm still not sure if this is good or bad.
