On July 3, 2025, King Frederik and Queen Mary arrived in Aarhus to attend the official opening ceremony marking Denmark’s assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the year 2025. In the morning, the King and Queen met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen at the ARoS Art Museum in Aarhus.
In addition to the Prime Minister and the Commission President, the King and Queen were welcomed upon their arrival at the museum by ARoS Director Rebecca Matthews and Chair of the ARoS Board, Laura Hay Uggla. The Presidency of the Council rotates among the EU member states every six months — a tradition that dates back to the founding of the Union.
Max Mara Faded linen blazer
Max Mara Spring-Summer 2017 collection
Nothing terrible on display, but also nothing quite right.
ReplyDeleteMary looks lovely in these colours, but I don´t get the jacket-on top of-jacket look. The all-white version looked better, but I still think the two sets of lapals are competing.
The Danish PM looks alright, but I get slight janitor vibes from this suit.
The beige/gray/khaki outfit is nice but I think the skirt had been better at knee length.
VdLeyen looks boyish with those trousers and shoes, and she should generally go for more feminine cuts, ideally wider, loser and longer trousers, much like Mary´s. The shorter jackets she usually wears suit her better than this longer one. Nothing she can wear can distract from her atrocious politics.
Please refrain from commenting the clothes of others than royals, and refrain from political comments.
DeleteI agree Anon 15:56. We have had years of political view from Vanessa. I want to come here to look at the clothes. Political comments only serve to ruin the reason I enjoy visiting here, which is to escape the news.
DeleteI do agree with Vanessa about the pink blazer. I stand by my opinion that mix and match blazers usually don't work well. I can see why she is switching out her blazer. Wearing the pieces separately makes more outfits. The problem is that it looks like it doesn't belong with the rest of her outfit. It isn't the worst, just not the best.
I will comment on whatever I find interesting, thank you very much.
DeleteI think what Queen Mary intended to do is obtain the effect of wearing a vest as a sleeveless top under a blazer. Only a vest has no lapels. Two times lapels doesn't work.
DeleteMary looks really beautifull!
ReplyDeleteThis pair of trousers is só well cut, love it, as well as the rose jacket.
I agree that she looks good. Nice fresh summer colours. As for the rest of the ladies, even the flat shoe fans can see the improved appearance of the three ladies on the right, with their heels and the two on the left in flats? 👠 v 🥿
DeleteI am sorry, AnnieM, I took another look, but cannot become an admirer of high heels: I see no designing, creativity nor fantasy in them: to me they look all the same. Queen Margaretha has always worn flat shoes in all kind of colour and design: love her for that!
DeleteWhy not wearing the blazer with the pink pants?
ReplyDeleteWith a nice floral blouse.
@ Anon. 14:56
DeleteI am afraid that floral blouses are an old fashion combination. Under pant suits one is wearing a T-shirt, blouse or shirt in the same or a contrasting colour.
such a strange combination...
ReplyDeleteI prefer the Max Mara trouser suit worn in its original form. The pink jacket on top of the jacket seems out of place.

Elégant ce haut blanc ceinturé que j'aurais vu porté sous la combinaison blazer/pantalon rose ?!
ReplyDeleteImlike the pink with the white, but as stated above the lapels compete. The original white jacket does not have lapels, makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame that Frederik, now as king, never really looks "put together". From his birth as the crown prince, it seems that no one ever pulled him aside & taught him how to stand & walk properly. Joachim conducts himself more regally than Fred ever did (I remember them growing up), & that goes for clothes as well. Just an observation I've always had regarding these two brothers. ~~Ruthie
ReplyDeleteUne jolie et élégante association de couleurs, crème et rose pâle c'est charmant. Elle est aussi rafraichissante qu'une glace vanille-fraise. Paloma.
ReplyDeleteLovely look again for Mary. I see Ursula van der Lyan has Angela Merkel's style pants and blazer.

The pants look perfect, wonderful fit. The dusk pink jacket is beautiful.
