On July 22, 2025, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Newmarket to tour the National Stud, often considered the hub of British horse racing. During their visit, they learned about the educational programmes and charities that aim to improve access to British horse racing. Newmarket is a market town and civil parish located in Suffolk.
Queen Camilla was also introduced to the author and illustrator behind a series of National Stud storybooks designed to spark young children’s interest in horses. The books are currently in development and will feature a variety of characters, including foals, and stallions.

Later, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited King Edward VII Memorial Hall in Newmarket to meet members of local community groups, as well as representatives from businesses, and the health and education sectors, to learn about local initiatives, charitable efforts, and community programmes.
King Charles and Queen Camilla then proceeded to the Jockey Club Rooms to meet staff and club members. There, they viewed a painting of Queen Elizabeth II by artist Paul Benney—honoring the late Queen’s lifelong passion for equestrian pursuits and horse racing.
