On June 10, 2025, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie took part in the traditional Sprangpressessioun dancing procession in the historic abbey town of Echternach. The event – inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2010 – enjoys international recognition and gathers more than 10,000 pilgrims and spectators each year.
Each year on the Tuesday after Pentecost, the first pilgrims gather in the courtyard of the former Echternach Abbey. Both participants and spectators come to pay homage to Saint Willibrord, an Anglo-Saxon Benedictine monk revered as the founder of the abbey and known for his gift of healing. Pilgrims honor the legacy of Saint Willibrord not only by walking, but mainly by hopping in time with the rhythm of traditional musical bands.
Quite lovely
ReplyDeleteStephanie looks so lovely in this blouse.
ReplyDeleteLe couple est tout pétillant dans sa chemise blanche !
ReplyDeleteStephanie looks very good in the off-white blouse and her smile is most charming. Helena
ReplyDeleteI like the length of the lady’s pants with the light shoes, good length. Stephanie looks good in that blouse, her pants could be a inch shorter, but give their versatility for wearing with other shoes is okay.
ReplyDeleteThey look great, and having fun! Does anyone know where we can see a video? In Dutch there is an expression that something takes as long as the procession of Echternach, which means it takes reaaaaally long... I'd love to see them doing the steps.

Stephanie has the loveliest smile!
ReplyDeleteStephanie looks lovely, her smile lits up her entire face.
ReplyDeleteFashion is not the most important here. Every participant at the procession is dressed like it is the custom. A white shirt and black or navy trousers. Best is to wear a solid pair of trainers. The cobble stones are not the most easy ground to walk on.
