On Saturday, June 28, 2025, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa visited the Rose Garden at Munsbach Castle to christen the Europa Donna rose, named after an association that has been dedicated to the fight against breast cancer since 2002. The official christening ceremony took place in the presence of Ministers Martine Hansen and Martine Deprez.
The associations Friends of the Rose, Kordes Rosen, and Europa Donna Luxembourg collaborated to create the Europa Donna rose under the umbrella of the European Breast Cancer Coalition. The Europa Donna rose bush is sold for €30 through the Luxembourg Rose Society, and proceeds from each sale will go toward funding breast cancer awareness and support projects led by the Europa Donna Luxembourg association.

ReplyDeleteJ'aurai porté un pantalon blanc un petit haut blanc et le gilet comme sur la publication Oscar de la renta ! Cela aurait allégé car cette "énorme " robe et toutes ces grosses fleurs ne convient vraiment pas à la morphologie de MT
DeleteI think the floral print is a bit overwhelming but I do like the short jacket as opposed to the shawls that the grand duchess has been wearing lately.
ReplyDeleteOh this is lovely. And the loveliest: this perfect little bolero or jacket instead of ... yes we all know what, a shawl or stola :-). The length does not disturb me at all in this case, probably because of the open neckline (and also because it is, thankfully, not quite floor length).

DeleteI like when she wears actual dresses rather than those shapeless sacks. I also much prefer these fabrics over the shiny stuff she often wears. It´s still a bit too low-cut for my liking but we know that Maria-Teresa favours rather low-cut designs and exposed shoulders. I´m glad she wore the jacket, both for a more appropriate style and to balance out the full skirt, even though the pattern is on the verge of being too much with the jacket added in. For a rose garden opening, she gets away with it. Shoes and bag are good.

ReplyDeleteThe amount of fabric is proportionally less than the amount of fabric a tall woman would need for this dress. Which means that she is very clearly not drowning in it. - She could wear whatever she wants and would look small notwithstanding, simply because she *is* small. Which is not inferior to being tall.
DeleteI like this look even though the print is bold, perhaps because everything is in proportion. Also everyone else is wearing soft colours it does not clash in photos. A pretty rose and the GD looks very pretty in these colours.
ReplyDeleteLove the dressing for context. Oscar de la Renta must be very expensive but hey it’s not every day you get a rose named after you. Given that her silhouette is so different than most models used in most fashion, this does work extremely well for her. Structured dresses do work better, I agree Vanessa! And no this shouldn’t be a dress without flowers - the flowers are the whole point and as per usual, Maria Teresa really owns the look- Mary
ReplyDeleteOne of the Ministers with the blond hair and glasses is wearing "knitted" trousers (picts N° 5, 6 & 7). It is a fashion article for this summer, but I think it must be terribly hot to wear when it is 30 degrees plus. I even saw tweed trousers in this summer's collection. I wonder who can wear this when it is so hot outside.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to think about Maria Teresa's dress by Oscar de la Renta. It is a rewear and it looks like the bolero has another print than the dress. She doesn't look bad and her hairstyle is pretty and done by a professional hair dresser.
Interesting point re the trousers. But I think these ones are very airy and probably cooler than having the direct sun on the skin. That’s the thing past a certain temperature out in blazing sun, it’s actually cooler to cover up and wool is a pretty good fabric for that.

DeleteI feel more comfortable in cotton trousers when it is hot. They can have their woolen trousers. The sweat and the feeling of wool on bare skin when it is more than 30° C, no thank you.

ReplyDeleteI like Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's joie de vivre. Her love of experimenting with fashion, where she encourages many to show courage and joy too. But: the abundance of expensive designs and this one in particular is too much for me. Firstly, the Luxembourg rose takes a back seat to so much “camelia print” (camelias, not roses at Oscar de la Renta). I also don't think the short jacket goes well with the dress. And last but not least, there is a message behind this cultivated rose: the proceeds will go towards breast cancer prevention. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa could also have worn a light summer dress in a soft pink or light blue, for example.
ReplyDeleteJe suis d'accord au sujet de la couleur, elle aurait été très bien avec du rose pâle. D'ailleurs le rose est le symbole de la lutte contre le cancer du sein. J'aime beaucoup la photo de groupe car presque toutes les femmes ont justement choisi de porter du rose (et elles sont élégantes tout en restant simples, sans ostentation).
DeleteCette robe est vraiment très large avec les volants. Les motifs sont trop gros aussi. On voit plus les feuillages que les fleurs, donc surtout du vert. Paloma.
It is a pretty floral pattern but way too much fabric, as someone said, when you're short. I know I struggle with this to find flattering fashions. GD Maria Teresa's best feature imo is her chic hairstyle and lovely smile. I'd keep it simple and not quite so low cut.

ReplyDeleteThe skirt has to be long because it is so wide and for me it works well. The design is quite good and nearly the same as the roses she christened!
@ Anon. 16:30 Those trousers look like vintage summer collection Missoni. They are silk or silk and cotton mixture. I have a pair like that and they are very cool (no pun intended)
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful ensemble for Maria Teresa! It's so elegant, yet fully appropriate for daytime wear. She's glowing and I personally don't think she's drowning in the fabric at all. She has enough gravitas and the figure to pull a large print off. I had to giggle at the picture where she seems to be literally sprouting out of the rose bush. Fantastic outing!
