The prime ministers wife is a bit of a hot mess. The coat would have been okay without the green patches. It must have been a last minute invite that she was not prepared for. Men are fortunate, a suit usually fits the bill for many occasions. The queen looks lovely in her suit.

I agree that Mrs. Carny is a hot mess, what was she thinking, this outfit is awful and her hair not properly coiffed. She definitely needs a stylist.

I think perhaps Diana Fox Carney had prepared the dress and shoes, and put the coat on last minute for a touch of warmth, which is fair on a cool morning. Most of us do not have a full range of coats to match all dresses, but rather one which goes over anything. That coat is fabulous in itself; and it’s not that bad with the dress. She seems to be a fabulously accomplished woman, with a strong social justice and environmental passion, and I suspect pricey fashion is not high up on her list of priorities.I wish her so much luck in her new role.

Mrs. Carney seems like a real nice down to earth no nonsense person that does not want the spotlight. Despite the miss here, I prefer this to her posing for vogue. She has only been in this position for a few months so give her a chance.

I have to say I saw another photo of Mrs. Carney, meeting the king, queen, princess, she had on black dress, her hair and makeup were spot on. She looked very pretty and every bit a lovely representative of Canada. I would like to think the above photo caught her off guard, that perhaps she was not intended to be in the photo. It was very windy outdoors.

    5. Isn’t there a slightly kinder way we could comment on Madam Carney’s outfit?
For example, Madame Carney likes to do it her way.
I think it’s unreasonable to call it “a hot mess”.

Dear @ Deadeggs, your words sound so right and tolerant.
I can't help but side with you.
But you see, do we really expect kinder comments on Mrs Carney considering that younger , stunningly beautiful ladies are scrutinized and bullied for much less?

Mrs. Carney is a noted global economist and climate change and energy expert herself, and up until 2 months ago, was not accustomed to being in the super trooper spotlight since her husband became our Prime Minister. British born and the mother of 4 young adults, I'm sensing that her priorities so far have not included high fashion, but have leaned to simple and clean dressing appropriate to her high level work. However, as her prominence will now increase as we can already see beginning to happen, perhaps we will be treated to a new, quietly evolving side of her. She has a lovely long tall frame, similar to Q. Mathilde but without the high waist (in fact just the opposite from what I can tell) and it will be interesting to observe how she chooses to augment her style, if she so decides.

Maxima looks fantastic in this almost 20yo suit. I'm truly amazed how she is pulling all these outfits from the deep reaches of her closet and making them fab again. To be highly commended.
I'm also pleased to see our new PM with King WA and Queen Maxima.

Maxima’s new hair style looks great on her, and the beautiful linen suit looks fabulous on her svelte figure. A home run today! MR

New hair style ? She had this style before. It is just combed behind her ear on one side and she just had a brushing. What I do see is that it is a bit darker, maybe she gave up the treatment to make her hair light blond.

This pantsuit proves that wider pants were fashion in 2006 too (already).
    QM is looking fantastic.

  5. I love the fact, that Maxima is recycling her outfits. This pantsuit looks splendid. A 20 year old suit and it looks fabulous. Well done to her.

    1. Absolutely agree with you. Queen Maxima looks superb. Mrs Carney’s outfit fails in most respects, the clashing coat and dress and the shoes which match neither. What is the difference between ‘a mess’ and ‘ a hot mess’? I don’t recognise the phrase?

  6. Maxima's suit is very well designed and fits her well. She looks very smart.
I just wish she would have worn a more contrasting or interesting top inside.
The one she chose matches the suit and doesn't stand out.
I agree with Anonymous 24/6/25 18:19 about PM Carney's wife. He is my PM and I can tell you Mrs. Carney always looks like a hot mess. This is nothing new.

    Q. Max looks great here in a well-fitting, flattering pantsuit. As far as Mrs. Carney is concerned, I love the coat and I think it would look wonderful over a black dress or black trousers. The outfit here just looks a bit thrown together. Even swapping out the shoes for something black would have helped. (V.M.)

Maxima looks stunning in that suit. PM Carney ‘a wife probably put on the coat last minute to cover the wrinkled dress.

  9. L'imprimé du manteau de madame Carney est bien porté sur sa robe de couleur moutarde mais à mon avis, je trouve que les rajouts verts semblent superflus !
