I like Zara’s dress. Sophie not sure, she does look nice. P.Anne not her best look. I wonder if Zara’s dress would look nice on P. Amelia of the Netherlands, or would the balloon sleeves be too much on her.

It is Princess Amalia not Amelia. I think Amelia is the English version of Amélie a French name for a girl. Princess Amalia of The Netherlands is named after Amalia of Solms one of the first Dutch queens consort, although in those days the head of state was not a king yet (but Stadhouder). The story is rather complicated and I don't know if I am telling the correct story).

The winners here for me are Q. Camilla wearing the stunning emerald brooch and bracelet, and the D. of Gloucester in yet another set of gorgeous pearls. Q.C’s dress and hat are both tried and true silhouettes and I’m pleasantly surprised at how well the bright green suits her. D.of G is always elegant and this lovely white dress with the contrasting hat is no exception. The gloves do look somewhat bulky though.
    P. Anne should put her outfit at the very back of the closet as neither the shape nor the colours suit her at all. Even her jewellery is lacklustre - the pearls look skimpy and the brooch is crowded by other pins.
    D. Sophie’s dress is way too long as usual and looks too big through the bodice and skirt as well. (V.M.)

Camilla looks fantastic in this emerald green dress and hat. Bright and colourful. The dress is her usual style, and if it makes her happy and comfortable, no problem with that. Her hat is one of the nicest in recent weeks. Large (which she wears very well) but not over done, and the satin band adds panache.

But the real winner for me is the Duchess of Gloucester. You can only catch a glimpse of her dress here but there are more images online and she looks really, really good. The dress style is a departure from her coat style dresses and she pulls this off perfectly. But what really catches my eye is her hat - a creation by Barnaby Horn who is a recent Kings Foundation graduate (one of Charles educational design charities). Beautiful in cream, with bronze and gold flowers. I've never seen her wear a hat of this style before and it looks great. A bold departure for her, and well worth it.

Finally, really happy to see Lady Gabriella Windsor again. She too looks fab in green, both the outfit, and especially her beautiful hat.

Sophie's dress is overwhelming her. The silhouette is too much on her small frame. But I do love the print.
The Queen looks great in green.
I'm not a fan of Zara's dress either. Its straight out of 1982 but not in a good retro way.

Love the fun of Ascot costumes. Everyone gets to have a little fun and drama in how they get to dress, although with less flexible creativity for the men with their top hats and tails. I do wonder about the evolution of dress as the summers heat up - and are happy for the ladies who can choose light fabrics and big hats, because those men must surely begin to get hot in all their wool layers!

  6. La reine est superbe dans le vert lumineux de sa robe comme d'ailleurs son nouveau chapeau - La duchesse de Gloucester est élégante dans cette jolie robe blanche sans oublier son chapeau de couleur abricot clair !

A better fitting jacket on Mike today.
He must have read our comments yesterday!
Another feminine and floaty dress on Zara.

I wasn’t ready for the vibrant green on Camilla. A stray away from her usual delicate colors. I love the emerald jewels that she’s paired up with the color story.
Princess Anne,I so admire her ability to re-wear her outfits time and time again, but I think this particular outfit needs to be hidden away and never worn again.
When I first saw Ducgess Sophie I gasped at the gorgeous colors. The bright fuchsia hat and clutch married up perfectly with colors in her dress. Then we saw the length. Why Sophie why? This is a bespoke dress,so correct measurements would have been used,so why request a dress that just drapes along the grass. Such a shame, this look could have been in her top ten looks.
Mrs Middleton Snr looked lovely in a mellow yellow dress, and Mrs Middleton Jnr looks comfortable in her chosen dress.
Lovely to see Lady Gabriella, she comes across as such a lovely person.
Zara was the winner today. She knows what suits her and she wears it well. I read recently that she had hired a stylist a few years ago,who sources out her outfit for high profile events. Looking back to last year she was perfectly turned out then too.
    Looking forward to today’s treats.
    Lowri.

  12. Oh, Lady Gabriella did nicely. Lovely outfit on her. Also, HM Queen Camilla looks so vibrant in grass green. I love Sophie's, TDoE, colours, hat perfectly matching, but imho the dress is too long, again. Seems though she likes to wear dresses/skirts that long. Anne Princess Royal is just her usual self. No fuss, no frills, open the wardrobe door, pull something vintage-y out, and ready to go. Zara Tindall - I like it, although it is a bit - dare I say - boring? Predictable? Birgitta, TDoG, oh yes! Need to see more of her, though.

    1. For me Lady Gabriella is the only one whose outfit I really like, the others didn't convince me.

  13. These Ascot outfits tend to be over the top but I suppose that is the dress code. I only like the lady in blush pink in the far left of the last picture because her outfit is simple and understated. I think Sophie's dress is way too long and looks very matronly. I wish she would have shortened it by about a foot. The large floral print is also not very attractive. Camilla's outfit is not bad and deserves an honourable mention. The rest are too much.

… not very attractive to you, but I love the print on Sophie’s dress. Gorgeous. I hope you get to Ascot one time and enjoy being part of such fun in fashion.

1457, we are all entitled to critique as our eye sees it. No one is right or wrong in their opinion. I to like the print and will give the length a pass as she will use this dress again. I hope she leaves the shoes in the closet next time, an open shoe would help with the dress length.

Why would someone like me get to Ascot? I'm not part of that social circle. I'm glad you like the Sophie's print but I don't and there is no need to take offense.

J'ai le même avis que Sandra, c'est la robe rose que je préfère car elle est sans chichis. Paloma.

If I look at the function as people wearing costumes then everyone looks okay. Perhaps the groups photos show the glaring issues with some of the garments. Individually they might be just okay, but again for me the majority the royals are not the best of show, however they get top marks for rewears. P Anne gets credit for being able to pull anything out of her closet and it still fits, wow.
