On May 22, 2025, the Prince and Princess of Wales, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland, attended the naming ceremony of the warship HMS Glasgow at the BAE Systems shipyard in Scotstoun, Glasgow. After the ceremony, the couple boarded the ship and met representatives from BAE Systems, which has led the vessel's delivery, as well as members of the Royal Navy who discussed the ship's capabilities.

In June 2021, the Princess of Wales was appointed Sponsor of HMS Glasgow, a state-of-the-art Type 26 anti-submarine frigate designed to protect the UK’s nuclear deterrent and aircraft carriers. For the ceremony, the Princess wore a navy and white nautical coat dress by Suzannah London. The Princess paired the coat with suede Gianvito Rossi pumps and a matching hat by Philip Treacy.

  3. This outfit is so reminiscent of Diana and one of her favorite designers of the day, Catherine Walker. The dress is striking and the design of the hat is stunning. The white trim is placed strategically and in all the right places to enhance rather than overwhelm. The small brooch is just the right touch of bling. This is one of Kate's better outfits and she looks great. This may be controversial but I think William looks so much better with the facial hair.

Not controversial at all! He looks great with the beard. If only Guillaume would grow his again...

I respectfully request that references to Diana end so she can RIP. I find the constant reminder upsetting and disturbing. Let Catherine be her own person. It is bad enough that she has to wear the engagement ring of a failed marriage. We will always find styles and colours repeat through time so it is easy to try and draw comparisons. My humble thankyou.

    4. Agree the Princess is stunning but totally disagree about the beard. He looks like an old man. Others who would look better without beards include King Willem Alexander and King Frederik

Sandra, I also thought of Diana when I saw Catherine today. That classic, tailored look is always a good choice. I believe it is a complement to both women. Of course, Catherine and Diana were their own people but they do share this quality.
There is nothing bad enough about her engagement ring. Neither one of them certainly think that, as both have made comments in the past regarding the ring.
A quote from Catherine "It's the same ring [as Diana's], and it's exactly the same size as when I tried it on, yeah. So it's very, very special. It's an honor to be able to carry on wearing it...I never, sadly, got to meet her...I never met her, no, sadly. Obviously now with the children—her grandchildren—her being a grandmother...she'd be brilliant. You know, we miss her every day and that's what's important."

And a quote from William "obviously she's not going to be around to share any of the fun and excitement of it all—this was my way of keeping her sort of close to it all."
So obviously, they both feel this way. Others like the previous comment of Anonymous may have their own opinion, but it is not the opinion of the son who felt the pain much stronger, or the woman who wears it now.

Anonymous 20:02, I agree with you that the constant comparison to the late Diana has to stop. If it was only done a few time, I think we'd be okay with it, but it has been full on since they got engaged. May Diana continue to rest in peace.
William also said "There's no pressure though. There's no pressure, like Kate said it is about carving your own future. No one is going to try to fill my mother's shoes, what she did was fantastic. It's about making your own future and your own destiny and Kate will do a very good job of that."

    9. Diana gone but Never forgotten! that's why William gave Catherine his mother's engagement ring, to keep her memory alive.

I agree with AnnieM about the beards. I once said that Prince William was not handsome with a beard. I received the whole blog against me.
Now that there is someone else who thinks the same as me, I am relieved that I can write my opinion again.

      @ Sandra
      I do agree with you.
It is not about comparing Catherine to Diana but about giving a sense of continuity to the British Monarchy itself.
Each of them is unique and this tribute to Princess Diana ha been highly appreciated.

The perfect outfit including the trip, and especially the colour, for a naval christening. I also love her hat. Kate rocked it today.

Sheer perfection! This style suits Catherine perfectly. The hat is just the cherry on the cake! I love that the blue and white are the colors of the Scottish flag. So much thought and consideration has gone into choices.

I love this very elevated look from the PoW - the crisp tailored dress, gorgeous updo, and beautiful sapphire and diamond earrings. Similar to the garden party look, she’s dressing very much like a future Queen. (V.M.)

This is the best example of how not to drown oneself in flowery-frizzy-flowy materials. I'd so wish that some other royal ladies would opt for this perfect combination of elegance and simplicity.

The first Suzannah dress I like. The style of the dress remembers a bit the French dress style of the 50s. The princess's hat is much better than the one the model is wearing.
