On May 7, 2025, King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark officially boarded the Royal Yacht Dannebrog at Nordre Toldbod in Copenhagen, marking the commencement of the royal cruise season. This annual tradition, observed each May, signifies the beginning of the Danish Royal Family's summer voyages.
The Royal Yacht Dannebrog functions as both the official and private residence for the King and other members of the Royal Family during summer cruises within Danish waters and on official overseas visits. The vessel operates under the independent command of the Chief of the King's Naval Household, who is a member of the Royal Court.

Photos like taken from a movie. Absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteI love the shape of Mary's hat. It looks lovely in blue, but I can also imagine it in red or white. I also love her jacket. A smart and chic design.

She looks older when wearing these 'oldtimer' clothes.
ReplyDeleteNot the shoes or hat but the rest especially the dress.
“Old timer”? :-). I think she looks just like… Mary, classically beautiful with quite a romantic look. Absolutely love that jacket over the soft dress, and what a hat! Bon voyage for this year’s sailings!
DeleteClassically beautiful she is not…
DeleteI agree. Erdem dresses are never beautiful. This one fits, but she looks 10 years older in it. The one Duchess Sophie wore during the first garden party didn't fit and had a terrible pattern.
DeleteThe dress and jacket are more suitable for her mother in law, the neckline, pattern, colour, they are aging her. The hat is very beautiful
ReplyDeletebut too big for Mary.
I don't like this dress at all, it offers simply too much from every feature it has, i.e. pleated, but also frills, and transparency too, and flowers and whatnot - in one word, Erdem's sweetness overload. But the beautiful jacket saves the outfit, hiding most of the much-ness and leaving basically only the skirt. Excellent hat.
ReplyDeleteAs usual great and elegant.

Not a fan of this frilly dress. She is wearing a lot of high necked things lately. Her neck looks good, so there is not a cosmetic need to cover it. I love her hat and the jacket is well fitted.
ReplyDeleteMary est très chic mais à la place du bleu-marine de son chapeau, j'aurais tendance à l'imaginer de couleur blanche !

ReplyDeleteQueen Mary proves the classics never goes out of style and she looks effortlessly flawless in this stunning ensemble. I also like that she is wearing an anchor brooch possibly a tribute to her mother-in law. I am always confused when some of the commenters confuse the classics for being outdated or old fashioned!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
DeleteThere is a sharp difference between classic timeless outfits and old fashioned ones.
I think it is all about having a broader knowledge of fashion " categories" and how single pieces are put together more than a matter of personal taste only.
Wanting to see old or outdated features in a classic and top class composition like this one stems from a biased view and a lack of fashion sense in a more general sense imv.
I would say that Q.Mary's ensemble has an upper class flair to it , which is quite understandable and even expected from a lady of such social standing and relevance.

DeleteMaybe you are confused because what is considered as classic is not the same in every country. Classic must not necesserally mean copying the old classics. There are new classics that are designed today. I do not like the clothes designed by Erdem, many commenters on this blog don't like them either. It has nothing to do with having a knowledge of fashion either. What is fashion in one country today is sometimes followed a year later in another country. What is considered as classic in Japan i.e. is not considered as classic in Europe today. It is the copy of what was considered classic in Europe during the 50s and 60s. Since Mary became queen her outfits are less to my taste than what she wore when she was still a princess.
"XY looks old/er in this dress" reads for me like this: "I don't like this dress on her". It is OK not to nail it exactly why one does not like it - but to equate it for simplicity's sake with "looks old" is quite appalling. Especially when it is a rather frilly-flowery dress that would be highly appropriate for a pre-teen girl. To equate "don't like it" with "old" is quite ... strange.

DeleteSorry for interruptung but you do sound to be more and more confused.
Yoo do not seem to know the very concept of " Classic Fashion" and you also bring in an unclear notion of " Classic in Japan" without taking into account all the cultural differences involved.
You are just making a brick a brac or I do not know how to define your comment.
Bric a brac is to be meant as " miscellany" in my reply.
DeleteI like this dress it has some movement, the jacket covers the puffy sleeves, nice colour, good length. I don’t think it ages her, afterall she is not 20. A very regal look since she has to wear a hat.
ReplyDeleteThough I am not a fan of the dress, I love the knit Navy jacket, this is lovely. Her hat suits her wonderfully, she wears this type well. The single hoop diamond earrings are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved this romantic dress--and it looks sensational on Queen Mary. She has worn it a number of times in the past few years. I have never seen it paired with jacket but it still looks lovely. I also love her hat--what a great style for Mary. I think this is very typical floaty, romantic, floral dress from Erdem that we have seen a number of royal ladies wear and its very much in Mary's fashion wheelhouse because she has had this dress for years. I don't see anything she is wearing as being too old for her or more perfect for Queen Margrethe. If you take a look back at Mary as CP of Denmark you see her wearing very similar looks especially when traveling on the royal yacht. To me Queen Mary looks elegant and beautifully turned out for this annual event.
