On April 30, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended a church service for the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association at St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in London. The Victoria Cross and George Cross Association represents all living holders of the Victoria Cross and the George Cross. King Charles serves as the Patron of the Association.
The Victoria Cross (VC) is the highest military decoration awarded for valour "in the presence of the enemy" to members of the armed forces. The George Cross is awarded to those who have displayed the greatest heroism or the most conspicuous courage whilst in extreme danger.

Lovely dress: the best of this week!
ReplyDeleteNow this dress looks nice and suits her better despite the full sleeves. The proportions are good and the shoes are perfect.
ReplyDeleteAgree !!

DeletePerfection! MR
DeleteOh no not so flattering
ReplyDeleteThis dress is a bit better as the light blue one she wore yesterday. The shoulders and sleeves are better, she is wearing the right shoes and clutch. But still the model is looking better in it than Duchess Sophie. I understand she must wear a hat to go to church, but take the ornaments away and you become a nice little hat.
ReplyDeleteYes - dress with rich flower ornament and then another type of flower ornament on the hat, they clash. She could have chosen even a large hat, but then without further ornament.
DeleteYou become a nice little hat?! I think it’s a typo but it’s very cute! I like her hairstyle and the hat/fascinator is perfect for English fashion to an English church. As for the comment that the model looks better, daaahling, let’s be fair: most models used are 14-16 years old and lit, styled, airbrushed, poised and the photo we’re seeing is just the very best one chosen from 1000 taken … whereas most women with enough money to buy the clothes are people who’ve lived and had babies and travelled and eaten. We should never compare ourselves with clothes models!!!
Delete@Anon 21:52 What Anon 17:42 said is fair, especially when it comes to Sophie. She continues to wear her dresses longer than they were designed to be worn. It may be what she is comfortable in, but it does not mean her dresses are worn to their best advantage. When a dress is designed to be worn just below the knee and Sophie is wearing it at her ankles, the model will always look better, regardless of age. In this case, the dress is shorter than she usually wears, but still longer than it was designed to be worn.
DeleteI do not agree. With choosing the wrong accessories you can make yourself look older than necessary. She could have pulled the sleeves higher over her elbows like on the model to create a fresher look. The comparison between models and ourselves wearing the same dress, can give us an indication with what dress style we look the best and what we should not wear at all.
DeleteBest of the week, but alas, this is not a straightforward praise from me. Dress too long, sleeves too blown up (yes it is fashion but not a must). The shoes are good and the hairstyle is excellent. However, I would wear this type of headgear with a simpler and sleeker outfit. All in all, if it never gets worse than that, then I am happy.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is lovely on Sophie and her updo is so pretty.
