Queen Silvia of Sweden was honored with the 2025 Global Humanitarian Ellis Island Medal of Honor by the Ellis Island Honors Society. The award, which is recognized by the U.S. Congress, is presented annually to exceptional individuals for their outstanding contributions in various fields. The medal ceremony took place on May 10, during a gala held in the Great Hall of Ellis Island in New York. Ellis Island is an island in New York Harbor.
This honor recognizes Queen Silvia's lifelong dedication to humanitarian causes — most notably her work to protect vulnerable children through the World Childhood Foundation and the Mentor Foundation, her leadership in advancing dementia care through the Silviahemmet Foundation, and her commitment to empowering youth and supporting people with disabilities worldwide. Princess Madeleine was present at the medal ceremony.
She looks great, so young - at the age of 81 years.
ReplyDeleteSilvia does look great. I know she’s had plenty of plastic surgery along the way, and I’m unsure now if we see her real hair, but she remains the beautiful queen I still remember the press for in their 1976 (?) wedding. She is elegant and consistent and hardworking and imagine doing that practically your whole life, even though you weren’t born in to it? She’s pretty amazing, the Dancing Queen!
DeleteShe does look great and she’s always been a beautiful woman but there is a bit of airbrushing, etc going on. Still very lovely…
ReplyDeleteNo airbrushing in that kind of journalistic photography. The direction and amount of light and also the accuracy of the focus affect the degree to which one's wrinkles show.

Magnifiques photos de la reine Silvia qui ne fait pas son âge ; elle a bien mérité cette médaille d'honneur !
ReplyDeleteWell deserved. She is a woman to be admired, she is a wonderful Queen.
ReplyDeleteQ S has more make-up, shorter hair and the red colour is good on her!
ReplyDeleteA very pretty lady always has been elegant. As with the comment above I have also suspected that she wears a hair piece at times. However she is looking lovely in her red outfit.
ReplyDeleteQueen Silvia looks marvelous here! I love her red cocktail trouser suit. She has always been hardworking and focused on helping the vulnerable both old and young. She is an admirable lady and this award is very much deserved.

:) :)
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see her still doing what she has started so many years ago. This is what I call commitment to a cause. Congratulation on the Award, she earned it.

She looks beautiful in this shade of red. Looking stunning.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can see, this is a stunning outfit for the Queen. Beautiful shade of red lace. Very stylish.
ReplyDeleteI’m not liking the piping at the neckline. She looks like she won an award. Maybe that’s the whole idea behind the outfit.
ReplyDeleteSilvia looks pretty in red and her lighter hair makes her look so much more younger and youthful. Princess Madeleine looks also so lovely in black. Love her hair - so glossy and long.

Lovely outfit from what we can see, hair piece nice, though darker than her normal hair, and I agree with a previous poster, a little creative editing away wrinkles has been done, even with her previous surgeries. She was a beautiful woman in her youth, have to wonder why she went the route of 'changing' her face.
