On May 3, Crown Princess Leonor of Spain arrived in Panama City aboard the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano, which made a stop in this Central American country as part of its training voyage. Queen Letizia of Spain reunited with her daughter in Panama, and together they attended a reception held aboard the ship upon its arrival. For the occasion, Queen Letizia wore a wine red halter-neck jumpsuit by Mango.
Mango belt-wrap-jumpsuit
Love it. The queen shows up in $140 Mango high street fashion without any major jewels, and she’d fit in perfectly with a mixed crowd ( except she has exceptionally well muscled arms, so that does stand out a bit!). Am impressed by her!
ReplyDeleteAgree completely, she looks fabulous!
DeleteDamsel Dragonfly
Elégante cette combinaison rouge ceinturée dont le croisé sur la poitrine met son allure en valeur !
ReplyDeleteAll polished up and ready for a body builder competition!
ReplyDeleteHa, not quite sure she’s aiming for a bodybuilder competition, but she certainly knows how to keep a sharp and polished appearance!
DeleteI love the crossover design of the bodice on this jumpsuit. Even though I'm not a fan of jumpsuits this one looks great.
ReplyDeleteAgree. It looks fantastic.
DeleteI know that Letizia has a lot of fans on this page. But to my mind, she is far too mucular. Look at her arms for example. Maxima most certainly works out, too- but she looks much better, beautiful arms and neck etc..
ReplyDeleteIts a smashing jumpsuit but yes too much training or so. At the other hand if she wouldnt develop her muscles probably her bones would be too pronounced
DeleteI agree. But my comment about this was not even posted! I'm happy that someone is allowed to comment about her arms.
DeleteStunning arms if somebody would ask my opinion !
DeleteI agree, not natural. I know many admire this look which is fine. She works hard to accomplish and maintain this profile.
DeleteEveryone has their own tastes, of course, but I think Letizia’s strong, toned look is impressive. She clearly takes care of herself and sets a great example of fitness and discipline. Maxima has a different style and presence, which is also lovely—both women bring something unique!
DeleteToo muscular?!? Try to think of it this way: All women over 50 are these days encouraged to lift weights. Some bodies won’t show difference, others really will; we can’t judge on the look, but can say yay and congrats to the women who lift! For me she’s an inspiration!
DeleteWhy compare a woman with another woman?
DeleteIt is unfair and out of place.
If you do not like fit women, just skip over this post and focus only on figures and age groups you can relate to.
I wish I had arms like hers… I work out and lift weights, but I suspect she works harder than me. I think she looks amazing in such an inexpensive outfit.
DeleteLetizia looks all over wonderful, her hair, her dress, her posture. To say that Maxima looks much better is funny.
DeleteThere are a lot of diseases linked to having fat arms, including dementia and heart disease. To criticize a woman that exercises in order to be healthy is bizarre.
DeleteHer arms look just fine. I’m jealous.
DeleteFatshaming women is considered bad taste and always provokes a lot of protests, but shaming slender, muscular and healthy looking women on the other hand …….

DeleteYour declaration " I'm jealous" says it all.
That's the core of the matter.
I do not need to add anything else.
That red jumpsuit was made for Q Letizia, just gorgeous. Not sure about the shoes, are they silvery espadrilles? I may have preferred a sandal, but she didn't ask me.
ReplyDeleteMrs Cleaver
Sí, son alpargatas con suela de esparto, completamente apropiadas para un barco, donde las suelas de cuero resbalarían mucho.
DeleteMrs Cleaver, I very much love your “but she didn’t ask me” comment!
DeleteThis is the Bare Arms show that Queen Letizia pulls off exquisitely. I don't think I want to compare her to Maxima or anyone, for that matter - different persons, differently (beautiful!) arms. She looks great.
ReplyDeleteWow! Imagine this be your mother who comes to visit you: I would be só proud!
ReplyDeleteLetizia is a very beautiful woman and in red she is breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteWell, tastes are different. I wouldn't agree with your comment. She is certainly a very ambitious woman and certainly disciplined.
DeleteAgree with Coralie.
DeleteLetizia looks fantastic in this jumpsuit - great color and fit on her.

DeleteI don't understand your comment. What would you suggest she wear? There is nothing indecent about her jumpsuit. We can tell it is a formal military reception aboard a ship. She is wearing sensible shoes for being on a ship, and is dressed nicely but not overly dressed. I will always prefer an outfit like this over cosplaying a military outfit.
DeleteI don’t think the outfit was out of place at all. She’s the queen, after all, and if anyone can pull off that look, it’s her. It’s not about fitting in, it’s about owning the moment, and she did just that.
DeleteI thought that as well but was afraid to express my opinion. I felt she could of worn something that she didn’t stand out as much since this was a surprise visit. As far as would I of been proud of my mom who clearly outshines everyone, for me personally I would not of liked it. i would of wanted her to be a mom not a fashion icon.
DeleteHow surprising! I would be so proud of my mother to look so fantastic. It is only a jumpsuit, not a ball gown--which would have stood out. The other non-military women pictured are wearing long gowns. Letizia is actually dressed more casually than they are. There are other women that are sleeveless as well. I can't see how she stands out in any way other than she is the queen.
DeleteEntirely agreed, @Anonymous 22:28.
DeleteShe is not too muscular, she has a very thin fragile constitution, so even if she had exactly the same amount of muscles as somebody else, those muscles would simply show more on her, because she has very little fat. Comparison with Máxima is absurd, totally different body type.
Paloma.
I have arm envy! HM looks fabulous in a $140 jumpsuit! I’ve always admired Queen Letizia for her willingness to wear high street brands and Spanish designers. She was wearing Hugo Boss Zara and Mango well before our other royal ladies. She proves that you don’t always have to spend big bucks to look good.
ReplyDeleteLenor looks delighted to have her Mom there. So precious.
Lowri.
@ Lowri
DeleteHugo Boss is not in the same category as Zara, Mango, Massimo Dutti, Uterque and other Spanish brands she is wearing. Hugo Boss is a German brand and not cheap. The quality is much better too.
@Anon 7:54. If you read my comment I pointed out that QL wears an array of high street fashions, including Spanish designers, which she is to be applauded for. Yes,Hugo Boss can be pricey, but not as pricey say as wearing Carolina Herrera or any other high end designer. She saves those wears for special occasions.
DeleteLowri.
To compare Leticia and Maxima is apples and oranges at any age. Leticia is small boned and has maintained her figure - slender and toned. Maxima has always had bigger bones and a more curvy figure.
ReplyDeleteThey both can be proud to have great figures for their body type and fashion style.
It seems also strange to comment on what royals are wearing as we haven’t seen the dress code for the event. With the others at the event were mostly wearing WHITE naval uniforms- she would have been the focal point. She‘s the Queen and every one should be able to see her.
After 20 years of making fashion decisions, I would hazard that Letizia, Maxima, Mathilde, Rania etc know their fashion and protocol.
Being thin and muscle toned does not necessarily equate to healthy. A shiny skin is not natural. I guess for me, and don’t beat me up for this, alot of time is needed to be spent on oneself to achieve this look. It seems self serving in my opinion and not necessary, she can look great naturally.

DeleteLuckily enough , each woman is free to improve her physical aspect as she pleases.
Nobody knows anything about the Queen's health and making a random guess takes nowhere.
Personally, I wouldn't like to see sagging upper arms in a woman.
What I see here is a lady taking good care of her body and wanting to benefit from exercise and cosmetic products, which I applaud.
I can't see anything wrong with that.
Can you?
I fully agree with P. the original.
DeleteAbout the "shiny skin", it is a very simple thing to put lotion or something similar on the skin of your body. It is part of maintaining your skin, like you would with your face. It is also very common to add a little shine to the skin when dressed in a way that shows the shoulders or décolleté. It is like having nice shiny hair. Dull skin looks like skin that hasn't been cared for. It is just more obvious with skin that has a deeper complexion.
She looks stunning, beautiful. The pantsuit fits well, the color is gorgeous, suits her well.
ReplyDeleteThere is a famous fairytale that we all know: Mirror mirror on the wall……
ReplyDeleteAs a wise mum you take a step back
What has the mirror on the wall got to do with being a good mother?
DeleteAre you implying that fit and attractive women are bad mothers?
I suspect quite the opposite.
You know, frustration coming from low or non- existing self- confidence
(including being unsastisfied with one's own physical aspect) as a woman can have a devastating impact also on her children's upbringing imv.
