King Frederik X of Denmark is celebrating his 57th birthday today. Born on May 26, 1968, he is the eldest son of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik. He ascended to the throne following his mother's abdication on January 14, 2024. In keeping with tradition, King Frederik greeted the public from the balcony of Frederik VIII's Palace alongside his family on his birthday.
On May 26, King Frederik, Queen Mary, Queen Margrethe, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, and Princess Josephine watched the birthday parade and waved to the crowd gathered in front of Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg.

why do the girls always dress up in old people clothes; weird shaped trousers, and Isabella's coat so unflattering!
ReplyDeleteIsabella´s suit is particularly unflattering. I really looks bad. I don´t even mind the colour, but the wrinkly material, the awful fit, the bulky trousers. In the photo of Josephine and the dog, we can see Isabella in the background, and the back side of her suit looks just as bad.
DeleteHey, they’re kids, let them experiment and enjoy their youth. Let’s be kind above all but especially to girls/young women who may well stumble across comments about them. They all look completely beautiful.
DeleteDo you even notice how hurtful your "old people clothes" is? Besides being stupid of course.
DeleteEh ladies, Josephine and Isabella's trousers are just what all girls wear in these days. Why on earth would you impose exclusively the "classic" trousers, which are nice, but young girls just don't like them right now. And by the way, her top is quite nice and just timeless in my view.
DeleteI would also say that Isabella's blouse or T-shirt does not fit with her suit.
@Vanessa, you are too severe.
DeleteWhat if someone had told us what you wrote about Isabella when we where her age?
We would have considered that as a personal attack, no?
Of course , both senior and younger royals have to tackle constant public scrutiny but they are humans before being royals.
I am not saying that Isabella's suit is wonderful, I'm just being tolerant to a young lady who has just entered public life at a more intensive pace, so as to say.
I personally like the beautiful colour of her suit, which reminded me of a nail polishl I once used .
Its shade was named" silky sienna".
To me, the main malfunction in the jacket is due to the wrong placement (too high) of the button.
The trousers are the most trendy you can currently find on the fashion market, that is the wide leg design..
If this suit had been fitted and at least a size down , It would have been lovely imo.
All the other members of the family look great, including that adorable dog.
And...happy belated birthday to King Frederick!!
Please P, disliking someone´s suit is not a personal attack. It´s well within the realms of what we´re here to discuss.
DeleteI know that wide-legged styles are in again now, but that doesn´t mean that I have to like them or that I cannot discuss them.
Agree about the button placement.
@ Vanessa
DeleteAs you like it.
Happy Birthday to K. Frederik. Beautiful family and a lovely celebration, family pet included :) Love Josephine's Zimmerman top. A very stylish piece indeed.

I must say they are a very handsome family. Fashion wise I like Josephine’s blouse, the soft colours look very nice on her. Isabella can wear orange however I find if it had been only the jacket I would have liked it more. I do not like the plaid jacket on the queen, looks too old fashioned even on her. Mary as always is very becoming in a blue dress. And of course the king and his son look great in a suit.. The twins just look like mini me versions of their parents.
ReplyDeleteLa princesse Isabella est une bien jolie jeune femme.
ReplyDelete-Astrid.
Princess Josephine is dressed better than Princess Isabella whose blouse does not match the rest of her outfit. Her jacket looks too tight and the color combination is not what it should be. Every shade of orange does not work with every shade of brick red or darker orange.
ReplyDeleteJoséphine est délicieuse dans ce chemisier multi-fleurs qu'elle a su combiner avec un pantalon blanc ; son jumeau Vincent est de plus en plus mignon !
ReplyDeleteJosephine takes after her beautiful mother! She's the young Mary!
ReplyDeleteJosephine is more and more a copy of her mother ❤️ Lovely pictures
ReplyDeleteRe looking at Isabella it is her choice of blouse that makes the suit look too harsh. Even a crisp white collared top would improve the overall look. She is her grandmothers pal for sure.
ReplyDeleteWaving on a balcony (or for that matter, elsewhere) is an art in itself. How not to ruin the whole appearance? Did you ever notice that Catherine, for example, lifts her arm just moderately in front of her body, not too high and also not to the side? :-)
ReplyDeleteThey are all moving as individuals, refreshing to see. Being staged for perfection like posing for a portrait rather than a snapshot. I take the snap shot anyday
DeleteHave you noticed that Queen Margrethe has always extended her arm high with her very regal wave. I was not aware the Brits set the standard
DeleteNo more comparisons with Kate who is always too rigid and never at ease. Here people are spontaneous and happy. And above all, young women should not be criticised. Irene
DeleteCatherine this and Catherine that... oh boy!
DeleteThere is a whole world outside the UK, more relaxed and natural people, fortunately.
Your comment was one of the stupidest I've read here @anon at 18:53.
Making such comparisons takes nowhere as individuals move according to what different protocol instructions dictate.
DeleteEach Monarchy has its own rules and institutional features.
I agree with Anonymous 07:22. The Brits never learn that their stiff movements are not standard for the rest of Europe.
DeleteThank you Irene, well stated.
DeleteQueen Mary's outfit is perfection. The youngest daughter is going to be a major beauty.
ReplyDeleteJosephine has to much make-up , she is so young!
ReplyDeleteMary looks perfect. I do not like Isabella's outfit. I think it maybe an outfit of Mary's that she wore to the Netherlands. I recall Mary did buy a similar outfit (possibly this is the one) on a solo private trip to Australia. The one I am thinking of was possibly purchased in Melbourne. Which I didn't like the outfit initially. However Isabella & Josephine are the next royal young stars to look out for. Mary
ReplyDeleteA very happy 57th birthday to King Fredrik of Denmark. He looks fantastic for his age. One of my family members has also a Birthday today. The girls have raided their mothers Wardrobe again, nice outfits all around.

Queen Mary and Princess Josephine look the best. Queen Mary looks simply wonderful in dark blue. Her brooch and slim belt were really well accessorized making overall look so elegant and regal. Josefine's multi floral blouse looks so romantic and well teamed with cream trousers.
ReplyDeleteVery handsome family.
A Happy Birthday to the King!
Kaarin
Josephine has to much make-up!
ReplyDeleteI think so to have for a while now, no rush to looking oleder.
DeleteAll female royals are wearing such nice and beautiful clothes.
ReplyDeleteI see no reason to compare with other royals or "elder people".They have style, just simple like that!
Princess Isabella really has such a beautiful smile, lights up her entire face, gorgeous young lady and princess. Queen Mary, looks splendid, love this navy outfit, I'm partial to the Navy color, beautiful color.. Josephine, wearing the Australian brand Zimmerman, blouse, oh this is gorgeous. What a beautiful and feminine blouse, love the design and colors. Very elegant. Prince Vincent is going to be one handsome young man. !!
ReplyDeletePrincess Josephine is how I imagine Queen Mary as a teenager!
DeleteShe is lovely, natural and must be fun to spend time with her!
Yes, Isabella's smile Is enchanting , just like her blue eyes.
Prince Vincent is bound to be a heartbreaker!
They are a beautiful family! I love how the girls raid their mom’s wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Mary has had the dress slightly altered. The drape from the original wear, has been removed. I like both versions and it certainly compliments Mary petite frame.
Lowri.
