On Thursday, May 22, 2025, King Frederik x and Queen Mary of Denmark attended a gala dinner in honor of the Council of Presidents of BusinessEurope. For the gala dinner, Queen Mary wore a pink floral print skirt by Erdem, paired with a black silk blouse by Jesper Høvring. She had previously worn the skirt as part of a matching set at the 50th birthday celebration of Baroness Helle Reedtz-Thott, at Gavnø in August 2024. For the gala dinner, the Queen chose to pair the skirt with a black blouse.

This combination of colors blouse and skirt is not bad but not good either.

I like the skirt and blouse very much but I’m not sure about the jewelry she’s chosen. The dangling earrings are somewhat lost in her full, wavy hair and they don’t really relate to the heavy gold necklace. (V.M.)

  3. I am so so so dissapointed that Mary almost never wears Danish fashion but is obsessed with the british brands worn by Catherine. Today we have skirt by Erdem. Yesterday - a suit is by Alexander Mcqueen. 15th May Victoria Beckham. 16th May - Harris Wharf London. Earlier in May she wore Erdem's dress. She is literally wearing more british than danish brands. At this point she seems as if she is uninterested to showcase Danish fashion and she prefers to be a copycat.

Dear Anonimen, I do not think that queen Mary is obssessed with British brands, but perhaps she prefers their style or her stylist has other reasons.
However, as it affects and hurts you as a Dane, which I understand, why not write to the palace and make your feelings known? Good luck.

But surely the blouse is Danish?

Imitator Katherine, on the other hand, even dresses her child for his birthday in a Danish brand worn by the whole Danish family. The skirt you saw her and the blouse where you missed that is Danish? Did she go by the skirt? There's always something Danish or Scandinavian in the whole outfit too, whether it's an accessory, bag or garment, there always is but apparently you're a Katherine fan and only see the English brands. And being in the same brand not in the same garment. Very rarely are they in the same patterns. Most are different.
I get very nervous being lied to like that. Massively royals wear English brands but only Mary's are noted.

    5. Comment by Anonimen is not true ! She wears Danish designers.

    6. Yes the blouse is Danish, so so difficult to be perfect !

    7. Erdem is a Canadian fashion house, the blouse is by Jesper Høvring, a Danish designer. No Brits involved here. Also, to call HM Queen Mary a copycat seems quite far-fetched to me. Having that said, I think the necklace doesn't go too well with the ensemble Queen Mary is wearing. Other than that, I think it a good look, however, not an outstanding one.

Cannot agree with you Anon 01:35. Mary wears Danish designers very often. Even the blouse she is wearing here is by a Danish designer.

How many Danish options are there? Also, if I didn't like the options of the Danish designers, I wouldn't want to wear them. You must look and feel good in what you are wearing. For example, if Natan was my main option, I would not want to wear the majority of the clothes. They are not my style. Clothing brands are not the only way to represent or support a country. I think she has more than proven herself.

Mary really stands out with this skirt. Nice color and pattern. Her Makeup today I feel is a bit too dark and her hair not as always.

  5. Love the skirt and indeed the whole look. Think Queen Mary looks so like Princess Josephine in the first picture. I’m not certain about the new hair colouring though I accept that if you have very dark hair you need to lighten it as you get older or it looks unnatural. Great outfit anyway

I think that Q.Mary'ensemble is quite balanced for a business- related gala dinner.
I would call it " demure glam" and she rocks it well.
It Is an effective compromise between an evening dress and a more professional two pieces combo.
The contrast between two strong and optically striking colours - black & fuchsia- is terrific.
Love hair lighter hair shade and accessoires.

La penso come te, infatti l'effetto sulla modella è migliore. Detto questo, è comunque una delle regine meglio vestite.

I prefer the complete set by Erdem (last publicity picture). Maybe a bit too chilly to wear the skirt with the transparant, sleeveless blouse. She might have bought the sleeveless blouse too and is waiting to wear it on a hot summer night. The skirt worn with the black top is beautiful too, but the waistline is a bit too high, probably due to the contrast between the black and red. With the complete set the waistline is less visible.

I totally agree. I think the black undermines the look. Also don't like the red/auburn hair colour. I think it drains her face.

I prefer the Erdem two piece. Though there is black in the skirt,I feel the all black blouce is too much. The top and the skirt together is lovely. I’m not too taken with the gold thick necklace. I more delicate necklace might have worked, especially with such a light weight ensemble.

The outfit as worn by the model is perfect for a summery day. Combined with the black top the bold color of the skirt is not in harmony.
The necklace is not only a weird addition, it is also far too big for her tiny frame. Honestly, too big for anyone, I find it a bit distasteful. I suppose it is an expensive piece, but it is not a beautiful peace of jewelry.

I think it’s an ugly look and her jewellery looks awful. She could have done better than that. No sense of style

Can I just ask her to Stop with the ugly gold necklace already?? It looks like a dog collar. Something more delicate is always more feminine and interesting!

No you probably can’t!!! A, you likely have no access to tell her, and B, it’s her life! But you could state your own opinion here for discussion. I don’t particularly like the necklace style but don’t think it looks like a dog collar, just a thick necklace I don’t like. She may have another reason for wearing it, as we often each do for the jewellery we choose; eg a gift from someone who would also be at the party and be pleased to see her in wear it.

Lovely look, I am not keen on the drawn in eyebrows that are in fashion, it changes the face. For me alittle touch of the fushia colour in a necklace or edging on the blouse would tie it together better.

It is a legitimate choice to 'not' want to showcase any fashion house - just to wear what Mary or anyone else likes. Mary works for so many worthier purposes within Denmark - let her wear what she wants. To showcase fashion houses is, in my opinion, the least interesting or worthy purpose a royal can support. I think this whole "showcasing fashion houses of the country" is a very poor invention of the media when they don't have anything interesting to say about the person.
