On April 28, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor. This year, the Princess Margaret Hospital is celebrating its 45th anniversary. During her visit, the Duchess unveiled a plaque to commemorate the hospital’s 45th anniversary. The Princess Margaret Hospital, part of the Circle Health Group, is a private hospital located in Windsor. For the visit, the Duchess wore a new Wales floral pure silk dress by Max Mara.

This dress reminds me of a morning gown, which is very fitting for the hospital context. Kind of diplo dressing? Let me admit: this is awful. Small floral patterned shirt dress without any recognizable form and a self belt that does not add anything that deserves to be called design - it leaves me just wondering: why dear beautiful Sophie did this?
ReplyDeleteSitting with the child, a lovely pic, I think we see that the colour of the dress is very becoming for Sophie, and fresh and springlike. It seems to be too much material for her but a bit of re-tailoring for a better fit could perfect it. Love her shoes.
DeleteI agree, the dress is shapeless, too long and the sleeves are too puffy.

Now this is a lovely dress for Duchess Sophie. A light weight material and Spring color. Perfect length and not too tightly tied around the waist, though I think she’d be better served staying away from tie waist altogether.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Oh dear. Sophie needed a slip with this dress. I prefer the sleeves on the model. I am assuming she has pushed the elastic on the wrist up the arm to create a 3/4 sleeve. The color are nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat about wearing a slip?
ReplyDeleteA slip, she's not 80 years old 😂🤣
DeleteA slip is not for 80 year olds, they do have a purpose.
DeleteA ...slip?
DeleteWhat about culottes?🤣🤣🤣
I think in English a slip is a thin skirt worn under a transparant dress or skirt.
DeleteI’m in between the first two comments. On one hand I like this dress a lot: summery, nice shape and fresh print. On the other hand hardly anyone looks really good in these dresses. If you’re young, slim and wear it with a flat sandal it looks good and modern, but for all other women ( and I consider myself among them), these dresses don’t do a lot for you fashionwise.
ReplyDeleteExactly: young, slim, flat shoes, modern. But, even in that case, the person would not look really good thanks to this dress, but in spite of it. The pattern is like a "hidden numbers/characters" game. We learn a lot about how personal preferences of simply do not correspond to what is personally enhancing for somebody.
DeleteI like this dress very much, but I feel for her the sleeves should be alittle shorter and not quite as full. I like the length and even the belt. She should of worn a slip so when the sunshine in you don’t see through.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think this dress flatters D. Sophie. There’s a great deal of volume here which is only partly contained by the tie belt. Then there are the wide sleeves. Why? The model shows elasticated sleeves which bring the volume in. Finally the print. The colours are quite pretty but a tiny print like this always reads as “twee” to me. Once again I feel that a decent stylist would not have chosen this for the duchess. She spends far too much on clothes that are only okay. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteTo debate VM: does she need a stylist if she’s already happy wearing what she wears?
DeletePicture 3, the dress is see through against the light. You can see her legs until her hips clearly
ReplyDelete緑色は自然、再生、安心などの意味を持ち、人の心理に影響を与えると言われていますね。
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess looks lovely, but I'm not sure about the dress. If the sleeves were more fitted, and the skirt of the dress, not sure, it appears to add bulk.
ReplyDeleteThis dress does not even look good on the model. Bad design IMO. Another sad miss for Sophie.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It does not even look good on the model and is totally shapeless on Duchess Sophie.. The colour is nice and the shoes are good but those are the only positives.
DeleteI do not like these dresses on anybody. From a brand like Max Mara one would expect a better product. Again Duchess Sophie is wearing a dress that does nothing for her. The pattern is totally out of fashion. The shape of the dress is not lovely, too long, too much fabric tied together with a belt. Her shoes are not the type of shoe one wears with such dress.
ReplyDeleteWith a kind of ballerinas the dress would be better. What has she done to her lovely hair?!
ReplyDeleteJoli modèle très frais mais il ne convient pas à la morphologie de Sophie ; c’est dommage !
ReplyDeleteAfterthought (mine was the first damning "morning gown" comment). This dress cannot be saved by any measure, everything is wrong, for me at least. But what I would like to add is that as nice as this girlish open hairstyle can look good on her if she wears something like that simple blue pant suit, as terrible it looks when combined with a dress like this.
ReplyDeleteWhat is she wearing ?
ReplyDeleteShapless nightgown perharps?
Big NO from me 👎
I think this is actually a beautiful dress, although I agree with those who feel the sleeves do not look good the way Sophie is wearing them. On the model, they are lovely, and do not appear bulky at all. The color is, imo, truly ravishing, and the print is subtle and pretty. — Jane
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing about this dress I find appealing. So,no, thank you.
