This is a lovely dress, and from what we can see, it fits Stephanie very well. It embraces her body, looks comfortable, and she is smiling and happy. Her hair looks very good too. And my goodness, that is quite a cake! The catering and cooking students at the institution have been very busy indeed.

Yes matronly was the word the came to me as well, and I can’t work out quite why as the model in the same dress does not look matronly. Could be Stephanie’s heavier shoe colour than the model; but also her pulled in posture. I hope in time she learns to stand straight and uncross her hands - it make an immense difference to posture and how clothes hang too. Her hair and smile are stunning.

  3. I like the dress. Her hair looks gorgeous. She appears to be happy and relaxed in her new duties. She will make a wonderful Grand Duchess.

Lovely colour on her, perhaps a tighter sleeve would suit better, but overall very nice. I know some will say curtain look, but imo this is a good style for her

Very pretty dress. I am sure if Queen Letizia wore this same dress, nobody would think of "matronly" - so it is quite clear what is meant by "matronly": a fuller figure, which is quite appalling. Somebody mentioned "curtain look", I think this dress avoids that trap by means of these strong colours? Anyway, I seldom like overall pattern, but I definitely like this one.

HGD Stéphanie's dress has the right green color. She is always looking good when she wears green.

  8. Au premier abord, très jolie couleur lumineuse imprimée de noir qui sied à ravir à Stéphanie ; dommage qu'elle soit trop cachée par ses mains croisées sur une pochette !

I don't like much about the dress , not the color and especially not the fit. But as is true much of the time, her hair is marvelous.

  11. From what I can see, this dress looks fabulous. The style and cut of the dress is very becoming. The black of her patterned dress, highlights the shoes and clutch. The green color of the dress, I love, pretty shade of color. Her hair looks well groomed and styled. Lovely presentation.

I have said it before and will repeat it again: Princess Stephanie has not regained her old figure after two births and calling her „matronly“ is an insult. Perhaps she is struggling, like so many women, but it is my assumption from what I know from mothers in similar situations. This dress is very becoming and summery.

I fully agree with you, Virginia. However, she has some financial means, did she try every way to regain it, massage, nutritionist etc In her situation it is important.

It is time people are going to accept that not everyone must be thin and do training for having muscled arms and a super thin waistline. Why always bringing the financial means in it, of course she has financial means. She is not the only one who is called "matronly", also Queen Mathilde has been called that way. I find it an insult too. "In her situation". So only princesses and queens should be thin. Maybe there are other reasons in someone's life why being ultra thin is not desired. Better having a fuller figure and being healthy than having a thin body and being not healthy. What is good for one person is not always good for another one. Body and mind are working together. It is the same thing like getting older. In our western culture one must do everything not to look older : botox and other injections in your face, face lifts, cosmetical interventions, etc... nothing natural can be accepted any more everything must be fake. In other cultures there is more respect for older people who grow old naturally and this must not mean not being looked well after. If you try to live healthy, to look after having always a good hairstyle, to wear clothes that suits you and make an older person looking lovely and elegant,.... Maybe some queens and princesses are happy with their husband and children and have a fuller life than those who are constantly thinking of what can be done next to look younger or what new treatment they should try for their wrinkles, etc...

-Dorothe-, Well stated re figure and posture etc. I personally do not think they were 'evil' thoughts, maybe just words hastily thrown at a blog page, rather than thinking through what the writer wanted to get across as their perspective. :)
Stephanie is one of the most naturally beautiful women I have seen on this blog. She carries herself with dignity, intelligence, and clearly adores her husband and two young sons. I thought the dress and accessories were quite nice, and her hair beautifully styled.

No doubt that Stephanie is a naturally beautiful woman. Unfortunately, the clothes she chooses do not properly frame her natural beauty. Sometimes I was thinking that she must have got dressed in the dark, which might be ok when going shopping for groceries but not as Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. Concerning figure, I am not sure it is about losing weight by all means but rather choosing clothes adapted to her morphology or getting them properly tailored. It should be obvious for Stephanie, when trying on new clothes, if they properly fit or not. Also, as somebody stated that before, why nobody around her tells her that she should maybe choose something else? She does not want to be a fashion plate like her mother in law, that's ok. However, the range between being a fashion plate and walking around with the line of the underpants visible is huge. Helena
