The Estonian School in Stockholm is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. On March 13, Crown Princess Victoria attended the anniversary concert at the Stockholm Concert Hall to celebrate this milestone. The Estonian School is an independent school with 200 students, located in Gamla Stan, Stockholm, not far from the Royal Palace.
The Estonian School was founded on March 15, 1945. Among the school's students are children of third-generation refugees, whose parents and grandparents cherish Estonian culture and language. There are children of parents who have moved to Sweden for work or other reasons.

What nightmare caused designer to bind together those sleeves randomly in the middle to look like a bavarian wurst? Maybe in search for some additional interest in that garment. Without that "interest" it could be quite good, but as it is, the effect is somewhat ludicrous.

ردحذفOh dear. I admire Victoria very much but that is one ugly top. The gold/green/brown (?) color is not at all flattering and neither is the shiny, aluminum foil like fabric. The cinching in the puffy sleeves gives the top a very ill fitting look like a very bad Star Trek uniform. But as usual Victoria’s smile is the best and the Estonian outfits are beautiful.

ردحذفI thought the nightmare was only in the front with the medieval armor cut, the sausage-shaped sleeves and the metal-like fabric. But it continues in the back. I don't know what made Victoria decide to wear that. But I think even Máxima wouldn't wear it...

According to Malina website, EUR225, 100% polyester, made in China. While this makes it relatively accessible for other Swedes to wear, it does make it a plastic fast fashion, likely to go quickly to landfill where it will take hundreds of years to break down) or be sent to Africa in overpriced unusable bundles). Not good from any perspective.
ردحذفNow, that is useful information, indeed. Not only that it looks weird, it's also very unsustainable fashion. I think the colour and shine of that top are good, and CP Victoria wears the piece nicely, it suits her, no doubt, but all else is off the mark, sadly.

As far as I know, polyester and other materials come from recycling processes so they start well as sustainable fabrics.
If you look at many designer pieces , you' ll be left speechless looking at the type of materials used and the manufacturing places too.
The issue is how and where all this materials end up once they have been dismissed.
I´m not a fan of the top either and I certainly wouldn´t have chosen it, but I think that it can work in the right context. It just needs a totally different styling.
ردحذفThe trousers are ok-ish but I think a skirt had been a much better start. Ideally something sleek like a pencil skirt or a mid-calf miniskirt though not too tight. Some fancier shoes mirroring the metallic shine of the top had also been better.
She then needed evening-style make-up with a bit of glam. And of course her default hairstyle is all wrong (usually and especially here). In order to make this look work, she needed a modern and edgy hairstyle, ideally with a bit glam, but instead her boring, old-fashioned and uninspiring hairstyle clashes big time.
So, I think this top can be styled much better and work in the right context. Of course, also, this event which featured beautiful traditional folk dresses, wasn´t the right occasion for sporting this odd top anyway.
After reading your comment and tips, I think you're right, Vanessa. If she would have styled this differently, the overall look would have been much better.
