On November 19, 2024, King Charles and Queen Camilla, accompanied by the Prince of Wales, held a reception at Buckingham Palace for the Diplomatic Corps. During the reception, the King and Queen welcomed more than 500 diplomats. The guest list included all ambassadors and High Commissioners from foreign missions based in London, former Prime Ministers, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and other notable public figures.
Queen looks lovely, as usual. Blue is her colour! But what kind of pants and shoes is the King wearing? Can't really see the style because of the dark colour, but I haven't seen those shoes except in old movies. Uba

حذفI don't agree either. He is doing something more modern for a British royal, and good for him. It is stylish and I think he looks very handsome. Why does it make him look older when he is wearing facial hair the way so, so many young men do? I thought he looked great when he had his beard many years ago and happy for the return.

حذفConsidering that he is a man in his 40s, a father of three the eldest of whom is 10yo, and a busy and accomplished individual, he can wear a beard of any kind if he wants to. He's not trying to look, nor behave, 'younger' for anyone or any reason.

I like his beard, it suits him great — as it does most men. I think it’s somewhat unnatural for men trying to look like prepubescent baby faces… :-)

حذفYou make it sound that at the age of 40 men are already old and it doesn't matter how they look old, especially when they have children. He should better try to look young through his clothes and his appearance. Facial hair is making a man look older than he is. His beard is not exactly well trimmed. Maybe he needs more time to let it grow fuller. A man has a baby face or he has not. Most men I know without a beard are looking good and they have no beard or no baby face.
Camilla looks pretty even if I do not care too much for her dress. It seems like the prince of Wales is going full on with his beard, I think it suits him rather well. He is looking slightly tired though, but aren't we all at this time of the year?

ردحذفFor those who asked: The king is wearing knee breeches along with the garter atttached to the left leg right under the knee. This is old court attire. I very much like that Queen Camilla busts out new tiaras all the time she has the opportunity to do so. The Five Aquamarine Tiara is looking marvellous on her, but I also liked it on the then Countess of Wessex, now Duchess of Edinburgh. Glad that they seem to open up the jewel vault and share more now. I am waiting to see the Oriental Circlet make a re-appearance some day.

Has it something to do with the order of the garther ? I thought King Charles before he became king announced he was going to modernise traditions from the past ? Until now I didn't see much of it.
ردحذفQueen Camilla's dress is nice. It is her usual classic style but I like the fabric. I am on the fence about the tiara and necklace with aquamarine stones ? Do they really match the dress ? I don't think so.
In other countries the royals do not dress in gala style to receive the Diplomatic corps.

I noticed recently that King Frederik was dressed in his admiral's uniform to greet new diplomats. Then there are the tradition New Year's courts where he again wears this major uniform--I think that must be court dress for Denmark. Meanwhile, the ladies of the DRF certainly dress in gala attire with tiaras and other fabulous jewels galore.

I thought in The Netherlands it was at the opening of the Parliament every year. I wouldn't know what they do to welcome the Ambassadors, foreign diplomats, etc...

The queens velvet fabric matches well with the kings garter theme. She sticks to her signature look. The tiara picks up the light blue/turquoise in the fabric of the dress and doesnt overpower the occasion. As far as William I prefer him clean shaven, this look doesn’t enhance his looks, maybe it is the mousey brown colour.

Ohhhhh--Queen Camilla is treating us to another new-to-her tiara!!! Love the aquamarines on her--the tiara is perfectly placed in her tiara hair hairstyle. That necklace is gorgeous--hope she wears it more. I also love her gown--it is simple and elegant as well as very rich looking. She looks fabulous here! KCIII is absolutely delightful in his traditional court dress--I love that he keeps up traditions like this. He can wear a tuxedo at so many events but court dress is special. Hope William will decide someday that some traditions should be kept as the monarchy moves with the times in most ways.

I do wish Camilla would wear gowns and dresses with different necklines. I think a boat neckline or rounded neck would look much nicer and more flattering to cover more of her neck.
