On July 25, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain attended a reception for the members of the Spanish Olympic Team, participants in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The reception was held at the Embassy of Spain in Paris. The King and Queen then attended a gala dinner hosted by the IOC and the French Presidency at the Louvre Museum. Dior Haute Couture Spring Summer 2024 Collection
Letizia’s outfit is interesting. I wasn’t sure I liked the design on the top initially, but it’s growing on me after taking a second look.

Can’t make up my mind on this one. The length seems wrong. Not sure if that’s because of the sandals or if it’s just out of proportion. I think it would look better several inches shorter. The undo is elegant but also gives quite a severe look. Undecided!!

Agree with you AnnieM and also Royal watcher, I'm on the fence.
DeleteSo, after a good reflection, I think the skirt is just too much for Queen Letizia.
DeleteIn our younger days before “Barbie” came along we used to make our dolls out of wooden clothes pegs and they always had a full skirt to make them look ‘girly’. Sometimes we used empty soft drink bottles to make our dolls and always with a big frilly skirt. So no to the Dior dress. Too much skirt.
I like the design on her top very much. It looks like a silver (or gold) tree that is turning into a bird…or a bird that is turning into a tree! The pattern on the skirt looks like a summer garland and the skirt itself looks quite ‘swishy’ thought it looks like it might overwhelm the petite Letizia a bit.
ReplyDeleteI really like this dress but wish the skirt was a little less wide as it almost overwhelms Queen Letizia. She looks beautiful though! One thing--the photos of her with her arms crossed amused me. They look like she hoping the King wraps up his speech soon or maybe she's not exactly happy about what he is saying. I know I'm being silly but I don't think I have ever seen her cross her arms like this before. Usually she either has her arms by her side or her hands clasped together as in the last photo showing KFel speaking.

Yes. It made me wonder if her feet were hurting again. That kind of pain can make you impatient and also less relaxed than usual.
DeleteI'm also on the fence about this look, I understand her choice for Dior, but I don't love the results, looking forward to reading more opinions about her look.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless it love the celebratory atmosphere of my the Olympic games.

Le tissu de la jupe me semble trop épais et cela manque de fluidité, de souplesse.
ReplyDeleteI like this outfit but think the shoes don't quite work with it. Perhaps it's the colour of the shoes that's wrong?
ReplyDeleteDas ist einmal mehr wieder perfekt. Besser geht nicht und an der Seite des Königs eine Wonne für die Augen : ) Begeisterung pur! -Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteQueen Letizia is looking very beautiful - love the swinging skirt - perfection from had to toe.
ReplyDeleteAda
Agreed Ada. I think she looks simply stunning.
DeleteThe outfit looks lovely, but I am not sure what it is? The two patterns of the top and skirt, clashing, I'm not quite sure. Regardless she looks good.
ReplyDeleteMême si la jupe me semble trop ample, la tenue de Letizia lui convient à merveille ; superbes ses chaussures noires !
ReplyDeleteI donot know either why this combination doesnot work for Letizia: is it the bulky skiet? The length? The bare arms or the too severe hairdo? On the positive: Dior in Paris!
ReplyDeleteI can’t figure out exactly what is wrong either. I just think this dress doesn’t suit her at all. Maybe it’s just too much.
DeleteI don't like the skirt. The print makes me dizzy. I like the top. Skirt and top don't match.
ReplyDeleteThe Dior outfit is lovely - modern and somewhat architectural in shape and design - but it is not suited for slim, petite Letizia, who wears streamlined dresses and chic outfits like few others can. To me, the top is beautiful, but it's the skirt that's the issue - it's too heavy and voluminous for her slim frame. Like someone above said, she looks slightly like a dressed-up doll. From the waist up though, she looks wonderful. She would've aced a sheath dress in the same design and colour as the top, or the top worn with a sexy pencil style long black skirt.

An interesting detail about Letizia's Dior dress. She didn't buy it, she rented it from the French firm. Renting haute couture is becoming very popular in Spain - infanta Sofia did the same for Leonor Constitution swearing ceremony.
ReplyDeleteFun fact, thank you for the info
DeleteAbsolutely in love with Letizia’s striking ensemble. The embellishments on the top evoke old master paintings of Spanish nobility and the skirt is similarly richly adorned. Old richesse did not match its parts; it reveled in luxurious detail. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is fantastic, maybe a different top. Letizia can wear anything, and she looks good. css
Dommage.
Paloma.
I am in love with this look. It reminds me of vintage Dior. The two pieces are a divine match. Letizia's foot problems, requiring flatter shoes, are detracting from an otherwise immaculate outfit.
