Definitely dramatic. It gives me Morticia Addams vibes. But I must say: I like the outfit a lot, it is really elegant. I prefer dramatic over boring anytime.

Agree with Damsel. I like the outfit a lot. No room for boring when it comes to Maxima.

  3. Does anyone else think that a floor length skirt for a day time event is a bit unusual ?

I think the length of the skirt is not appropriate for this day time event.

    2. No, with Queen Max, nothing is unusual.
Recently came across a quote from the outrageous American designer, Iris Apfel who died last month at the age of 102 years.
She said “More is more, less can be boring”.
Don’t know why but it made me think of my favourite royal, fashion fun Queen, Queen Max.

I think her outfit is lovely. The impression I get is that it respects the time period of the wars for which these soldiers are honored. For this reason, I think it is appropriate, dramatic and unique.

A bit too dramatic for me. Princess Anne vibes at her father’s funeral procession. Handsome couple well dressed

Princess Anne was wearing a long coat that did not touch the ground, she was wearing boots that wear visibly clear inches below the coat. one can hardly see Maxima's shoes here.

I think what is meant is the full length versus mid length, not the garment

Princess Anne was wearing full length but it was not touching the floor, it was many inches from her ankles.

  5. A solemn and elegant outfit, she manages to look chic and stylish. This ensemble is perfect for the occasion, love it. The addition of the pearl brooch, and pearl and diamond earrings, perfect addition.

I think a long skirt during day time is not necessary for a remembrance ceremony. A normal skirt, black stockings and black shoes would have been more modern.

Seriously? A maxi skirt is not a normal skirt? On what planet? We have 4 lengths of skirt. Mini, knee-length, midi and maxi. They are all normal and used by women every day. They are all in fashion. Someone need to update their info. So her skirt length is nothing wrong with.

Total black is very dignified for this occasion, but why a shawl over the beautifull jacket, and why a long skirt?

she almost had it right; nice hat, beautiful brooch, lovely jacket. on scrolling down there is an endless skirt sweeping the rain off the streets of Amsterdam

    Where is the broom)):
I think the total picture is an overload of clothes.
It develops a chaotic sight. The shawl is too much or wear the skirt with a blouse like in 2020.

      @Anna
In 2020 Spring was hot, no need to wear a lot of clothes. I remember it because it was the year the problems with covid (Corona virus) started. I do agree she could have worn a black coat and hat without the scarf and the long skirt.

  11. Pour cette occasion, Maxima est vêtue comme il se doit mais la jupe qui balaie la pluie ne donne pas une bonne impression à sa tenue !

Over the top, theatrical and dramatic outfit of queen Maxima. Remembering war victims is not a fashion party !!!!

The female BRF are always theatrical and over the top at remembrance ceremonies with outfits that look like uniforms.

I hoped this skirt that she wore on remembrance day before would never come out of the closet again. What you don't see at the pictures is that the skirt has different loose parts so they are sweeping around through the wind and by walking. The jacket and hat however are perfect

  16. I agree with @12:49 and Anna, the skirt makes the outfit look ridiculous and trivialises the occasion, imo! @14:10 - Less we forget.

I also agree with these two,@12:49 and Anna. The skirt has a fishtail hem and it looks weird on her. I think it’s because of her body shape.

  17. The jacket is the one she wore for the funeral of Queen Juliana in 2004. The hat is the same as she wore in 2020. The skirt also. I like it when she makes new combinations.
Okay, this is a very dramatic outfit. But an evening that is full of ceremony can have a theatrical outfit. And it was very rainy and quite cold (11 degrees C), so I understand the hat working as a parapluie, and the scarf.

      I would say:
an evening that is so full of ceremony ( and dedicated to the victims of war) does not need a theatrical outfit.

Maxima's outfit has a nice silhouette. They were outdoors in inclement weather long enough for the cold to get through to the bone; a classy way for her to bundle up. Christine

To remember the Generation who gave their all. Let us never forget. They paid a debt they did not owe; we owe a debt we cannot repay. Let us always remember the gift the fallen have given us and the scarifies, it did cost. I do like Maximas outfit for the occasion. css

I've watched videos of Maxima walking with WA to place an enormous wreath and I like her outfit even more when I see how it moves on her. Don't just go by these few photos on the blog. The skirt/trousers has many split panels for easy movement, and she doesn't seem over-dressed at all compared to what other royals in attendance both there and in other locations are wearing. This includes her shawl around her neck. She looks elegant and chic in a restrained manner appropriate to the sombre occasion. Just saying.

Why Maxima, just why? The outfit, is a mishmash of components, and it screams, look at me, look at me, rather than focus on the reason why you are there. You and everyone there was to honor with just a few minutes of silence those that were lost during World War II and during missions after WWII. It was not about you Maxima, it was for those that gave their lives for the country.
