Queen Mathilde wore this dress by Esmeralda Ammoun for the first time in 2017. Her red earrings by Carolina Herrera, red shoes and red clutch match the red flowers in her dress.

  2. Cette robe non ceinturée sied toujours à la reine Mathilde qui a su choisir une touche rouge en partant des boucles d'oreille, de la pochette jusque dans les chaussures !

    Lovely dress,
What a great way to enhance a grey dress: love the embroidery as well as the shoes!

Sadly, QM looks terrible in this dress, with a strange hemline, odd sleeves and waistband, plus the rather mis-placed red blotches on the garment. Lovely smile as always.

imo 'looks terrible' is a bit too much, but I agree to all your observations: this is not QM's best look

I wouldn't say she looks terrible, but it's not the most flattering dress. I do love the dress but the proportions top/bottom are not right. The colour and cut of the top half suit her, but the combination with the bottom half looks odd today.

Dear anonymous 17:15, I don’t see what you see here; where you see “terrible”, I see fabulous. Beautiful highlights of red, stylish cut and stunning overall look. (Grace)

@Damsel Dragonfly - I agree with your observations, especially about the top/bottom proportions being off. I do like the red flowers on the dress and the red accessories.

    5. I'm afraid I must agree. I liked the first photos where I could only see the top of the dress but full length, it's not at all flattering. The wide flared skirt makes the Queen look much broader than she is and the waist seems to sit strangely as well. Not a winner for me.

Anonymous2/5/24 20:01, terrible was my opinion of the dress, not the Queen. duhh. And to the other posters on this comment, it is MY opinion, and thank you for bullying me with my use of a word. Don't care, it is my opinion, thank goodness I do not bully you with your comments. We all have differing opinions, it makes the world go round. lol

I also agree with Damsel Dragonfly. The upper and lower proportions of the dress look wrong to me. Or perhaps if it's an older rewear, Mathilde has simply outgrown this dress. Not one of her best looks, I'm afraid.

QM looks good and professional, nice accessories, no overkill with the jewellery, but I’m no fan of the grey dress.

  7. I'm not so sure about this dress. Overall she looks lovely, but some issues, I cannot quite decide.
The actual hem, the sleeves dont seem quite right. The waist, the flow of the skirt? The embroided pieces, the idea is there, but the placement to me is off.

Unfortunately I don’t see this dress flattering in QM at all. At first glance, and with the placement of the waist I thought it was a maternity dress. It has so little shape to it.I do like color pop of red,and matching accessories.

Had the waistline been shifted to an empire waist, and the dress more straight instead of A-line it may have looked better.
