The D. Of Gloucester’s dress is too long and somewhat drab for this event but her gorgeous pearls and pretty hat save the outfit. D. Sophie looks lovely in the pink dress and hat but I really wish she had some nicer earrings, maybe pink topaz with diamonds? Although Q. Camilla’s dress is her tried and true zip front style, the whole look is outstanding - stripes in the hat echoing the dress, beautiful pearls, and an eye-popping diamond brooch. King Charles looks delighted to be there and I’m sure the guests were thrilled to see him. (V.M.)

Duchess Sophie’s dress is nice but not sure if it’s the most flattering on her. Can’t really say why. Is it the waist line? Queen Camilla looks good in this rewear and her hat is lovely. The Princess Royal’s outfit is a lovely colour with a great hat. The dress is on the short side and I suspect it may be from an earlier era! I am a huge fan of the Duchess of Gloucester but some new outfits/hats wouldn’t go amiss

It's the waistline. It would make a great maternity dress. She should hand it down to Louise when/if the time comes.

Great to see the garden parties resume--and led by King Charles and Queen Camilla! The ladies all look wonderful--and especially their hats. I have to say the Princess Royal looks lovely in her blue floral print dress and royal blue jacket. Duchess Sophie's pale pink dress is never going to be my favorite--I don't like the front. But the pale pink is a fabulous color for her. The Duchess of Gloucester's hat is one of my favorites from her collection--the color is so pretty. Her jewelry is perfect--those huge pearls are stunners. Yes, her dress is a bit too long but I think it looks a bit off because she is wearing flats (seems like a good idea to me for walking around on a lawn). Finally, Queen Camilla--her hat is superb and I like how it looks witih her dress. No one can wear a huge hat like Camilla. But the best of all--she's wearing what appears to be the Cullinan V brooch!!! I am so glad to see Camilla starting wear some of the gorgeous brooches I have been missing since the passing of Queen Elizabeth. I can't wait to see her pull more from the brooch vault!

I like Sophie’s pink outfit very much, although something about the waist looks a tad off - maybe it’s a little too high on her. The Duchess of Gloucester looks quietly elegant, as usual, and has beautiful pearls. I think I would like Anne’s ensemble better without the black gloves. Camilla looks true to her usual style. Her hat is quite striking and her brooch is gorgeous.

  5. Sophie looks pretty in pink.
    I love the color of the D of G ' s
hat which brightens up what would otherwise be a dull outfit.

I have read somewhere that the Duke of Gloucester is now forced to sell Barnwell Manor for financial reasons so that new outfits for the Duchess are probably not the couple’s top priority. Nonetheless, the hat is a winner and the ensemble looks very beautiful and fresher than Princess Anne’s outfit from bygone days. Is she wearing one of the late Queen’s necklaces, I wonder?

"Is she wearing one of the late Queen’s necklaces, I wonder?"

Good catch. I now wonder too. The late queen may have very well left her one of the 3-strand sets. It's my understanding there were at least two or three including the one given to the late queen by her father.

Although I rarely like Queen Camilla's outfits, I think this time she is the only one of the royal ladies who is dressed lovely. If her designer could use less big shoulder pads, she would look much better.
A pity the British royal ladies think that wearing a hat and old fashion jewelry is enough to make them look lovely. I think : first the dress (and hat if necessary) then the jewelry (with preference of one beautiful piece instead of and a necklace, and earrings, and a brooch). If you wear one beautiful piece everybody sees it, if you wear your entire jewelry box nobody notice it anymore.

    Such a lovely occasion!
Everybody well dressed and in high spirits.
Love especially Sophie in her all soft pink.

  9. Quel superbe look de la duchesse de Gloucester même si sa robe est légèrement trop longue ; peu importe car c'est largement compensé par sa belle capeline à rebords relevés ainsi que par les perles des boucles d’oreilles et du collier !

Duchess Sophie looks lovely in pink, but,I don’t think the tie waist is flattering. I remember Carole Middleton wore a similar style to Prince Louis christening. It draws attention to the bust area.A simple V neck fit and flare would be a more flattering look on Sophie shape.
PA- I love the blue jacket over the floral dress.
DoG- Her hat is lovely, though her dress is underwhelming. Her choice of jewellery brightens the look.
QC- She knows what style suits her,and she sticks to it.The black and white dress with the hat,is a perfect backdrop for the Cullen brooch.

Man, that first image looks like a photo from the 1940s or 30s with the long hemlines.

I have always heard from my mother that in the 1940s skirts and dresses were shorter (at least in Europe and among commoners), simply because there was not enough fabric available and people had to reserve all their money for food.
You are probably right about the 1930s.

The DofG has a nice, simple style dress..if only it were in a lighter, brighter Spring colour.
However I'm delighted to hear that she is to be made a Royal Lady Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter by King Charles next month. She totally deserves it! Brava to her.

D of E could use a brooch on that pretty pink dress. Explore the vaults!

  15. The D. Of Gloucester really knows how to wear jewels well. This beautiful pearl necklace is delightful, the pearls are a glorious size, love her pearl earrings.
Her dress however is a no, as is the hat.
Sophie looks nice, but very underwhelming. A brooch, necklace and earrings of substance would have elevated her look. As it is, she looks bland looking. The dress is quite nice, but the waist or fall of the skirt, something is not quite right. The Princess Royal looks stunning. Her pearl necklace and brooch, look glorious.
The Queen looks lovely. The white dress v the diamond brooch, just doesn't do it justice. The brooch gets lost in the white of her dress.

Sophie's dress seems rather dumpy looking around the waist line. Camilla is a re-wear, Anne looks very nice, as does the Duchess of G. The men all look very smart in their suits and hats.
